Potential destinations for Antawn Jamison

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dallas, Atlanta, Lakers, Philadelphia, Those are the teams that would have any interest of shedding a long term contract to make cap space for next year.

Dallas
Shawn Marion
Brendan Haywood

Atlanta
Josh Smith
Al Horford
Joe Johnson

Lakers
Ron Artest
Pau Gasol
Luke Walton
Steve Blake

76ers
Elton Brand
Igoudala
Thaddeus Young

Now there may be some team that has some people thyey want to reign who they would acquire Jamison for to spread those dollars out . I havent sorted that out yet and my reference guide pre dates the chris paul trade.
Typically in those situations youll have contracts set to expire at the end of the year or next year and a guy with a 9 million plus salary who is already signed for next year or not.. some teams still have amnesties I believe but Most of them will try to make moves before the trade deadline so they dont have to pay the guy at all. Feel fre to point those teams out that i May have missed.

Unfortunately none of these teams have anything but their own draft picks in the first round to include.

I would take Thaddeus Young, and thats about it.

Trade him and some cash for Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson, and add OKC to the mix too. Send AP to OKC, and Orlando sends Glen Davis there as well and in return we get KD and Orlando can have Kendrick Perkins. Then sign Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady.

Our Starting 5:
Kyrie Irving
Jameer Nelson
Kevin Durant
Tristan Thompson
Dwight Howard

That's a decent list of destinations, but you forgot the old folk's home in Destin, Florida. They're looking for a fourth member for their shuffle board team, and I'm pretty sure we could get a quarter as long as we promise not to spend it all in one place.

Keep him, let him jack up 20 shots a game, watch Cavs get another top 5 draft pick. Trade him right before the deadline and we might even be able to get a mid 1st out of it (once the playoff picture is a little more clear).

Keep chucking Twan. At this rate no one will want him or his value. smh

A Vet team will be interested in him down the stretch. Boston possibly.... they love to stock up on vets and depth. Only for picks, we won't be able to get a young player good enough in return in any deal unless it's for Andy.

If this guy would just demand a trade it would be easier, then you could bench him and move him. The only realistic scenarios I could see are a future draft pick (2013 or maybe later, I mean Miami doesnt have a pick to trade until like 2019 or something) or a youngish player that had potential at one point that may benefit from a change in scenery. Or maybe if some contender has a big man go down with an an injury he could be used as a one season filler. Otherwise, is there a market for a past his prime undersized PF whose best offensive weapon is the "flip" shot and thinks he shoots a better 3 point percentage than he actually does and also cant play defense? I doubt it.

Once he is bought out, any team can sign him

Jamison actually doesnt want to be traded and he believes if the cavs were going to trade him it would of been done last year. Who knows maybe an injury will create an opening somewhere but the landscape isnt looking to great.

Really, we're not in that bad of a situation. Byron has tried so far to actually play young guys with potential that demand minutes. So that's not a problem if Jamison plays a little.

We either let him go at the end of the season or we trade him, but not the type of trade you guys are expecting. He's probably going to be looked at as a trade for a bad contract with an asset or pick. That in itself may work out a little better. And even if we can't do that by the trade deadline and let him expire, we can still use the salary we get as trade fodder instead. You guys should realize it's not really that bad. We'll figure it out regardless.

Pacers/OKC/Denver are possible suitors (all have cap space sans OKC and could use an extra scorer).

Dallas needs to shed their Shawn Marion contract in order to sign Dwight Howard and Deron Williams in next years FA. Mark Cuban has already sacrificed this season in order to sign Dwight next year. They had zero intentions of re-signing Chandler/Barea and have essentially written this year off as a playoff season with no shot at a title. It's all about cap space for next years FA.

But to make the plan work they still have to unload Marion somewhere. They'd love to land a contract like Jamison, but probably closer to the deadline. They'd still like the best playoff seed possible...

I don't think they have any assets we'd want (draft picks) but Marion is getting moved this year, no doubt. Just a matter of where....they need his cap space to make a run at Williams/Howard which is what they've been setting up for the moment they won the championship last year.

On a sidenote, if they can make it happen, a line-up of Williams, Jason Terry, Odom, Dirk, Dwight is pretty filithy....

Jamison is an expiring contract, so don't count the Mavs out. They've made it clear they want a lot of cap room at the start of Free Agency next year.

I could maaaaaybe see the Pacers making a move for him. I'm not sure what they'd give up, and he'd have to fall back a little bit, but they could use an older locker room guy with all that youth.

and from what I hear, he rolls with an entire bucket full of lollipops.

I suspect we're stuck with Jamison for the entire season. And I could be alright with that (although I'm already tired of watching him take minutes away from the younger players). Thing is, I don't see us messing up our cap situation going forward just to pick up a low first round draft pick. Doesn't make sense to me. We're going to add a couple of young players next year (one a lottery pick) and a couple more (maybe 3) in 2013. Why take on Shawn Marion's awful contract - and another disgruntled veteran player no doubt - in order to get, maybe, pick 25 in next year's draft? If somebody with cap room wants to take him off our hands at the trade deadline for a future second round pick, I'd be okay with that, but no bad contracts anymore please.
