Ok. Good to know.

Well, it all started with police reform, and for justice departments to stop getting cops off for the unjust actions being taken against African Americans.

Which still hasn't happened.

Let's not pretend there were never any actionable things being talked about.

Honestly, how is that "actionable"? Cops who shoot people get a trial. If a jury acquits....what is supposed to be done about that?

Cha he's to police training are really important. Engagement with the community, learning the neighborhood. There is a push to go back to beats instead of response only. Preventing crime instead of cleaning up the mess. Demilitarization was a thing until sessions stopped it.

I am hearing more and more that many of the police that kill these unarmed civilians are vets suffering from PTSD. That is something that continues to destroy lives.

A Sudanese immigrant shoots up a predominately white Christian church and it won't be more than a blip on the mainstream media's radar. When Dylann Roof shot up a predominately black church it was a national outrage, monuments came down, there was outrage over the confederate flag, etc. This doesn't suit the agenda so the story will be buried.

Dylan Roof's story was so amazing because of how shockingly callous the actions were. Yes, his racist background and reasoning really helped the story take off, but it was how he killed those folks that grabbed the attention. That it was a +1 shooting, meaning more than 1 person, triggering the "mass shooting" label that triggers hysteria too.

I'll ignore the snark at the end for the purpose of moving forward.

Thank you for answering what I was asking for. With that said, I'd ask:

Police Reform: How? What are we reforming?
Justice Departments to stop getting cops off for the unjust actions being taken against African Americans: Is this referring to "suspended w/ pay" or something beyond? Remember, we're talking something we can take action on. I'd encourage when considering what could be done, that you suggest laws that don't protect a specific race, but instead provide protection to all from oppressive actions. Embrace the equality aspect when you're suggesting a reform.

I just don't know how to answer these; and honestly, I shouldn't assume.
With all this said, I do agree there's opportunity for change. I will say I don't think the change is "Black Change", but its really more than that. Its changing how all Americans engage.

Guys, all I ask is, remember when we're making suggestions on how to fix things, we're keeping in mind "all races, sexes and creeds must be treated equally" as a principle in our suggestions.

I wish Dan Gilbert would come out and support the players....

Ok. Good to know.

No offense intended, you do what ya wanna do, but why are you engaging and asking on this if you said you were checking out of this thread, other than occasionally posting a meme or making fun of someone? Are you actually trying to re-engage? I enjoyed your contributions when you were posting w/ good intent.

Maybe we need a new ribbon like fad for everyone to wear? Saftey pin is taken, so....

Seriously though, so much time is spent looking at what someone doesn't say; why not just look for his support in other actions? Why do we only look for bad shit when we're proverbially filling in someone's blanks.

The one acquitting is most often a judge, not actually a jury. If a cop in a typically racist area can shoot someone and then go to trial with a judge, who more often than not came from the local racist justice system, do we not see a problem there?

Dan Gilbert is known to be a big trump supporter - but one of the people at the forefront of the fight plays for his team.

He doesn't have to say anything -- that's his right -- and it's my right to criticize him for his silence.

I'm not going off on some "I'll never watch the Cavs again, and Dan Gilbert is a terrible person" bit -- he just has an opportunity to say something that people would hear, and I wish he would.

They don't all get trials. Many of them are never formally charged by the DA because they work so closely together with the local PDs.

I got ya, and I'm glad you're not a cliffjumper. :)

Personally, I wish they'd all just shhh; I'm tired of hearing it, they're recapping the F'ing National Anthem now during highlight shows. I think the Browns Pre-Game has gotten more airplay than their actual gameplay (it IS pretty bad). That's just my opinion on it. ;)

Curt Schilling has never been one to mince words.

I mean, he just regurgitated the same exact talking points that Fox News spins 24/7.

He says the Left is about "Identity Politics" (i.e. race, sex, religion). There is no such thing as identity politics. That is politics. ALL social issues revolve around race, sex, religion, sexual identity, etc.

Conservative states like Indiana literally try to force through legislation for "Religious Freedom" so that gay couples can't get married and can be legally discriminated by Christian businesses. Is that not about religion?

Muslim ban - is that not about religion?

And since when did the flag only symbolize the military? That's a big part of it but the flag represents the union and the unity of the country. It represents all citizens, our laws, all people of all professions.

Trying to say players are kneeling to disrespect the military is wildly inaccurate and ignoring the issues at hand.

Good point.
But consider that the problem may not be so much white as it is blue. Corruption in police departments and the system(prosecutors, judges, attorneys) protecting that corruption is a bigger issue imo. Police brutality and misconduct doesn't seem to be a black/white issue.
Decent article here... http://www.slate.com/articles/news_...conduct_black_cops_don_t_reduce_violence.html
that concludes...

"But there’s a problem. For as much as police diversity has value for image and community relations, it’s not clear that it does anything to cure the problem of police abuse and brutality in black and Latino communities. Just because an officer is black, in other words, doesn't mean he’s less likely to use violence against black citizens."
