Because no one cares and it's really nothing to do with anything of importance.

She's 3 years older than him...

If they want kids they better not dally.

It would be interesting to see what the kid would look like. Some sort of mocha/ginger hybrid?

36 is kind of late for having kids though. There could be some complications when a woman is that age. But if that's not something they're wanting then they're fine.

2. Some guy said he is surprised no one is talking about an interracial marriage. In late 2017.
^This is a bad post. If you think I'm racist just say it instead of twisting around what I said.

Lots of people are talking about it outside of this forum. I was surprised no one was talking about because of all the attention it was getting in the mainstream media, which you can read for yourself in the 5 articles I found from today during a quick Google search.

:chuckle:

You really think this is the thread for this conversation?

I think it's just that, this thread, like the Thread about Women, or the anti-transgender thread are just ... strange. They are dumping grounds where people who AREN'T those things go and .. idly chat about their confusion about Black people or women, or transgendered people.. or Muslims.. lol..

Like, did you realize there are Black people, women, and LGBT people on this forum? Can you imagine reading a "thread about you" and then going in and reading just ... pure nonsense? Like, why does this thread even exist? What's the point?

Still don't understand why the thread title conflates 'racial tensions' with 'Black Lives Matter'. Surely a fair reading of the current racial climate in America would acknowledge that there is a bigger problem than simply BLM; after all the torchbearers have marched. It's out in the open for all to see.

I would hope the moderators will address this obvious imbalance.

It seems like some just treat it as "A Thread About Black People." But they don't wanna call it that, for obvious reasons... Even though we have and tolerate threads about women, and the "terrorist" thread is the de facto Muslim thread...

It's just ... gross. And whenever I say, hey.. just ask the Black posters, or the women posters, or the LGBT posters here what they think; no one wants to, because they know what the answer will be.

Honesty I didn't know where to post this and I didn't want to start a new thread because it seemed unnecessary. I just found it to be an interesting story. I went back and forth between this thread and the Trump one. I picked this one because it's about racial tensions and I saw a lot of media content making a big deal about the woman being biracial. It wasn't meant to belittle or offend black people and I'm sorry if that's how it came across.

If you want the honest truth Medium, you've got nothing to apologize for -- this entire thread has become an offense to Black people, and really anybody that gives a damn.

Just as the transgendered thread was an offense to the LGBT posters on this board, or the "Terrorist (read: Muslim" thread) is an offense to every Muslim poster on this board ... and you don't have to ask me, you can ask the folks I'm referencing. I'm quite positive they would all agree, universally, that these threads serve no constructive purpose; there is no real discussion to be had; no one listens to anyone else; and the threads "about" the people they describe, devalue the opinions and experiences of the people titled in the thread itself.

These threads simply should not exist. It's unfortunate that they have for so long; and we never did this years ago. Go look at the old 2008 Presidential thread, or the 2012 thread, or the Obamacare threads.... We actually had political discussions. Can you imagine?

Notice we don't do that? It wasn't always like this. This place has gone to shit, and it's sad to say but it's true. Anyone can just go back and look at the level of discourse and how much it's fallen off a cliff.

1. If you're pissed because we're talking about racial matters in another country, don't respond. That seems pretty easy. You now understand that this thread isn't limited to black lives matter, going back to your initial point, right? I think the focus on racial tensions outweighs the importance of the country in which its happening.

2. Good that you don't care. Looks like it's a big deal in other parts of the world. Is it the first biracial couple into royalty or whatever? Did you say anything about Barry's race when he became president or no?

Like, I click on an article and read this - "She won’t be allowed to be a black princess. The only way she can be accepted is to pass for white,” Kehinde Andrews, an associate professor of sociology at Birmingham City University who launched the first black studies degree in Europe, told Newsweek. “If there are people who are celebrating, it’s a bit naive, and they’ll be very disappointed.”

I wasn't expecting to read that, especially not about a country like Great Britain. I don't think an interracial relationship is a big deal in 2017 but it's clear that some out there do.
