See.. Man of Steel wasn't so bad after all, now was it? ;)

I liked MoS a lot more than BvS. The parallels between Zod and Jor-El were interesting.

Colonel hit the nail on the head with Split. Some of it was done really well; the psychiatrist's dynamic with Berry and her deepened understanding of each person's nature was well-developed and substantive.

The girls that got places in the situation were for shit actresses and their dialogues were stupid.

All I know is I have been saying et cetera in a little lisp frequently and randomly.

6/10.

Now that I've gotten most* of my "Oscar viewings" out of the way, I feel confident in giving my personal top 10 list. I've gotten to 53 films this year.

Honorable mention: Race, Lion, Moonlight, War Dogs, Sing Street

10) Arrival - Very similar to Interstellar. Well paced and shot. Glad to see a Sci-Fi movie get recognized after Ex-Machina was snubbed last year.
9) Hacksaw Ridge - Andrew Garfield should win best actor, IMO. A similar feel to Saving Private Ryan. I will say Vince Vaughn was miscast.
8) Whiskey Tango Foxtrot - Funny but sobering story of a journalist embedded in Afghanistan. Tina Fey had a great balance of comedy and drama. Martin Freeman, Margot Robbie and Alfed Molina were great, although Alfred Molina's wig was pretty bad.
7) Hidden Figures - Well acted. Nice to see someone fight back against the #WaronMath
6) The Nice Guys - A throwback to 70s buddy cop movies. Gosling and Crowe had really good chemistry. Very funny.
5) Eye in the Sky - This film was criminally under marketed. Helen Mirren plays a British Army Colonel who has to weigh taking out a known terrorist with a drone strike vs the collateral damage to innocent civilians. Extremely tense. Also the last live action performance by Alan Rickman.
4) Hell Or High Water - A seemingly basic bank robber movie, it explores the financial industry and race relations at the same time. Jeff Bridges and Ben Foster were great. GREAT cinematography.
3) Captain America: Civil War - It belongs on the list just for the airport scene alone. The Russo brothers should just direct every Marvel movie.
2) La La Land - In most years, this is a clear #1. EVERYTHING about this movie was well done. The set designs, sound mixing, editing and cinematography were all perfect. On top of that, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were great. Of course, if you don't like musicals, the singing and dancing will take you out of the picture. But all the details were spot on.
1.) Rogue One: A Star Wars story - Any movie where Darth Vader mows down 10 guys in a hallways will get #1 on my list.

*I still have to see "Fences"

Money Monster. Not good. Zero subtetly in a type of movie that demands it, lest you end up feeling they are beating you over the head with the subject matter, which is exactly how you feel.

Silence. Good movie, was long and quite slow at parts, but i felt it was necessary to the vibe the movie was creating. Very violent and abrasive at times, almost had to look away-- Sobers you up to how good you have it after watching this. Also glad that I did not read too much into the plot before seeing it. Did not expect the outcome. 8.5/10.

I went and saw Moonlight last night. Very interesting film. While you're left with very little resolution or closure as it pertains to the characters and storyline, it tackles several social issues and themes throughout. Definitely thought provoking and worth a watch.

Went and seen Split last night. I love mental shit like that but it got pretty out of control towards the end. Some pretty bad jokes BUT that actor was really, really good. I still enjoyed it very much and would probably give it a 6.5/10. I just hope those girls were over 18 cause i couldn't quit looking at those ta ta's.

Also, I don't remember once, me thinking about...when is this movie going to end. Kept me very in-tune throughout. And I was pretty tired and kinda had to shit. Ha

Split

Are you a fan of Shyamalan plot twists? If so, go see this movie. It has probably the biggest, dumbest, greatest, most Shyamalanian plot twist imaginable.
So it's garbage just like every other non-sixth sense movie he's ever had?

Got it. Seriously no idea how anyone trusts this hack anymore after churning out garbage for over a decade

Preach.

This week, I've had two self-proclaimed movie buffs tell me that he and Tyler Perry make good movies.

Dirty grandpa.

It's absolutely hilarious. And Jesus Zak Effron is cut as fuck.

Hidden Figues won the Screen Actors' Guild version of best picture. La La Land wasn't nominated, but both Moonlight and Manchester were, so that's an upset.

Emma Stone was best actress and Denzel won best actor.
