I watched LaLa Land last night. It was ok, but I couldn't really get into it. That might have been a byproduct of watching it at home instead of the theater. Not sure.

Fences

I will swap it into 10th and move Arrival out. Denzel should win best actor. Viola Davis was great as well, although I'd still give best supporting actress to Naomi Harris.

Been trying to download resolved for weeks.. finally a few more seeders and I'm only 1gb away from the full file!

Thanks for hell or high water.. was looking for torrent awhile back and wasn't available yet.

Love Ben Foster. Five minutes in,love it

So it's garbage just like every other non-sixth sense movie he's ever had?

Got it. Seriously no idea how anyone trusts this hack anymore after churning out garbage for over a decade

I liked Unbreakable too, and I think it holds up better than Sixth Sense.

The rest are fucking garbage, though.

Watched Unbreakable recently (after all the Split buzz) and I think it was a genuinely very good/great film that probably was ahead of its time. If he released the same film now everyone would hail it as a deconstruction of the superhero genre and a subdued, human look at the man behind a superhero mask. Really enjoyed the filming techniques M Night used as well.

Unbreakable was praised when I came out I thought. It definitely has its good points and was a very good idea, but what killed it for me was
when the son pulled the gun on his dad. I'm sorry but I lost it, it was just so absurd I couldn't stop laughing. It then made the scene where SLJ feel down the stairs comedic too. Those two scenes- cut them, maybe not do slow mo on the stairs scene... And some other tweaks and it would be fine.

Finally saw Ex Machina the other night. I really liked the story and all the conflicts associated with AI. Oscar Isaac is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors.

I saw La La Land last weekend. And while there were certainly great parts to it, I personally find it a bit strange that a movie like this dominates the awards nominations.

I'm sure we'll watch most of the others, but so far this is the only best picture nomination I've seen. We normally try to see all of the nominated movies before the oscars air, which was easier to accomplish before they expanded the number of nominations.

We saw La La Land first because it dominated the nominations. But after seeing it, I still think Doctor Strange and Rogue One were the two best movies I saw this year.

Thought La La Land was fantastic, and I don't like musicals. Emma stone in particular was great.

John Wick (first one) is a great movie if you want to watch Keanu Reeves shoot people for an hour and a half.

I didn't say it was a bad movie, I just think some types movies don't even get considered no matter how great they are while others do get considered just because of the type of movie they are.

Enjoyed War Dogs.

Interesting story. Jonah Hill. 7/10
