It looks like those idiots are making a Supergirl film and of course are ignoring the perfect Supergirl they have.

A Studio source said, about Cavill: "Superman is like James Bond. At a certain point you have to go with different actors."

Yeah, like no; only after that actor is too old and the franchise is already successful. This is Cavill and Affleck jumping from a sinking ship. That is on fire and covered in Wallaby shit.

After Aquaman and Flash there's Wonder-Woman, Supergirl, and Birds of Prey (an all female cast)... Like, hold up.. you know I'm not hating on women getting their time to shine, that's fantastic, it's great. But something tells me, like with Ghostbusters, that this is far more capitalistic in its intentions rather than creative minds hashing out good stories that make sense...

Wonder-Woman 2.. Supergirl, and Birds of Prey (with Harley?) ... but no Superman and no Batman... like, c'mon guys..

Make the films, but make them in a larger continuity that makes sense .. as @Jack Brickman said, look at your competition...

I've always been an equal opportunity comic lover between DC/Marvel, and it makes me very sad that DC can't get their shit together and translate some of my favorite stories to the big screen.

I'd love to see DC just go all in on developing television series with their heroes with a few crossovers and mini-series along the way.

They've done well with the Arrowverse, but I'm talking bigger, and more expansion.

They could win back a lot of fan favor by just diving deep into developing television shows with our favorite heroes.

At this point, I think DC would be better off with a full reboot because they've just fucked everything up too hard.

Can't say I'm surprised after they gave complete control to Snyder, who has never made a compelling narrative in a movie yet is somehow expected to make a movie universe? And agree 100% with @gourimoko as well, DC should have signed a blank check for Bale and agreed to finance however many passion projects Nolan wanted to get them to oversee this world.

They were already way behind Marvel, but starting your universe with that duo would have given their new movies a legitimacy that just wasn't there.

DC would pulverize Marvel of they could figure out a model of comic shows with movies 1-2 times a year, like a pay per view, for the big storylines. IMO this matches up better with the media they are born from.

It most definitely does. That's why the animated series worked so well back in the day, X-Men, Spider-Man, Batman... there is an endless supply of stories, and with television, plenty of time to tell them.

The Predator was not great, 5/10

Better than Predator 2, but falls well short of Predator and Predators

Added a couple neat things into the mythos, but also comes across as a generic SyFy movie at times

Solo.

I honestly don't even know what to rate this one because it was just so bland. Like, it wasn't a bad movie, but it also wasn't a good movie. It just kind of exists. You watch it once, forget what happened almost immediately, and move on with your life. It looks like Star Wars and sounds like Star Wars, but it just seems to kind of lack something that's there in the originals and Rogue One but similarly absent from the prequels and the new films.

I also thought it was a mistake to tell so much of Solo's backstory in one film. The dude's in the Empire for like a cup of coffee in this film, and it just feels off. They could have made an entire movie about Han struggling with working for the Empire before he finally snaps when he sees Chewy being mistreated and attacks those hurting him (I like that version of the story rather than the film version). They also give zero context for why he knows how to (sort of) speak and understand the Wookie language. I remember the Han Solo expanded universe books telling a much better tale, where he was more or less raised by a Wookie slave and thus had a soft spot for the species, which in turn led to him helping Chewy later.

Also, Emilia Clarke can't act for shit. She should be thanking her lucky stars she got cast in Game of Thrones before anyone knew it was going to be the biggest show on television, because that's why she's getting other work. She's also a British actress who somehow always sounds like she's speaking with a faked accent. No idea how that's possible.

Anyway, I guess it's worth watching if you're a Star Wars fan. I don't think they really did enough with the droid character (we never really got to know her all that well). Lando was fine; probably the bright spot of the film. Great casting there.

But just generally speaking I feel like they told the most boring version of the Han Solo origin story.

I think Nolan/Snyder wanted to go for a more serious set of films, pretty much in the spirit of the Nolan Batman trilogy. It's funny but, this all started with Warner Bros. telling Christian Bale to go fuck himself all because they didn't want to pay him what RDJ was making for Iron Man.

The way they handled that entire situation effectively forces Nolan out, since he's not going to work with the studio anymore out of allegiance to Bale... And you're now dealing with Zack Snyder exclusively in Nolan's role -- which is too big a role for Snyder, IMHO... That's what gets you a movie like MoS which, is very similar in tone, messaging and style to The Watchmen. In fact, most people who liked The Watchmen, liked MoS and BvS -- but -- most people didn't like The Watchmen. It was too brooding, with nowhere near enough comic relief (for most people) for a movie meant for general audiences and targeting blockbuster earnings...

If they'd never let go of Bale, they'd have kept Nolan. Batman would've continued on into a new trilogy, Nolan's DC universe would've been more like Frank Miller's and less like Alan Moore's; both very dark, but Miller's far more palatable to most people. That's one of the key tonal differences between Nolan, who I think is phenomenal, and Snyder, who I think is decent.

Now they move forward without anyone steering the ship and Gal Gadot as their lead actor, with the Wonder Woman franchise as their Iron Man....

Frankly, I don't think it'll work; and trying to rely on Gadot and Robbie as headliners seems like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Personally, I think they should consider a soft-reboot by going back to Nolan and Bale and paying them what it costs to rework the previous DCEU centered around the previous Batman DC Universe... Make a low-budget film with Joseph Gordon Levitt's Nightwing and use that to cut costs for Batman related appearances with Robbie, etc.. Cut the horrible Leto Joker, and try to make the lower-budget Phoenix one work... mesh all the shit together Infinite Crisis style, lol..

Nolan, Bale, Robbie, Gadot, Levitt, Phoenix, Mamoa .. pick a Flash .. and go from there .. Bring in James Gunn to help with Nolan, and bring back Patty Jenkins.. Like, the shit isn't hard.. they could hire these people, it'll just cost money... I dunno why WB has been destroying the DC IP like they've been trying to save pennies on the dollar on actor salaries...

This is literally a multi-billionaire dollar mistake. Can't emphasize this enough: this is why corporate boards sucks because whoever decided this shit should get canned.

Bale/Nolan with Wonder Woman, Robbie/Harlequin, Mamoa, and now you got a contender. (think about it they even roped in Will Smith)

And gouri you can hit me with one of your classic Encyclopedia length posts defending Snyder but I don't like him almost as much as I don't like JJ Abrams

Snyder's made some decent movies, but at the end of the day he's one of the last directors I'd want to hand a cinematic universe. He's too much of a one-trick pony (visual effects), and he's never really proven to be capable of doing much with characters, and characters are the most important thing in superhero movies.

Just look at Marvel...it's all about the characters. They've spent a decade building all these characters up for a huge payoff and it's worked wonders. Meanwhile, nobody gives a shit about any character in the DC universe because they're all a bunch of brooding cunts.

Donald Glover as Lando was definately the highlight of the movie. He shined in every scene he was in. I liked the movie but I also thought there was alot missing. It felt chopped together.
