Recruiting heating up

Just as you are happy with the kids you're getting, I'm happy with the kids we're getting. If you were unhappy every time a kid your program wanted got away, like Gant and Larimore, then recruiting wouldn't be any fun to follow. What I disagree with is your opinion that Larimore and Gant suck and have no talent. Kids that suck and have no talent don't get offered scholorships at OSU and UM, depth issues or no. Making such statements after your school lost out on them makes you look like you're ignorant, bitter, or a hater. Whether or not that is true, that's how it looks.

guys listen im not a hater nor am i bitter.....also my usage of the word suck probably was taken the wrogn way, obviously the kids have d1 talent obviously, my point was if im going to miss out on some kids we offered im glad it was those 2 and not some one else because the other kids we are pursuing are better....im definatly not ignorant about recurting because i have been following it closely for the ast 3 or 4 years....so once again this wasnt a dig at your class i was merely saying im glad you won out on thise kids because I BELIEVE that they are not as good as our other prospects take that as you want it

man you guys are a tough crowd....
Hey man, just put on our shoes. Imagine I went to a UM forum and said "Hey, I'm a buckeye fan. You know all those kids you beat us out for? Well, they all suck and have no talent. I'm so glad you got them instead of us, so we can now fill those open slots with way better talent. If you don't agree with me, then you must be wearing scarlet and gray glasses."

i commented an opinion on 2 kids ....then I went on te compliment your star of the class and your overall class....im sure you can pick 2 kids out of Michigans class that you dont like....and i can respect your opinions just as you shoud be able to respect the arguemnt i made over those 2 kids, and if not well then im sorry i posted

well there you have it...we lost out on a recruit to you guys and Im upset about it ....Thad Gibson is going to be a buckeye and I wanted him as a wolverine....there are you happy now

Lol. YES!

Well boys, today was a good day for our beloved buckeyes. As George already stated, we landed Thad Gibson this morning. He's a 4 star top 100 super athletic LB, in the mold of a Nail Diggs. He could see time early as a pass rusher. Then this evening, we landed Ray Small. Another one of Ted Sr's boys. This one i'm really excited about. Again, a 4 star top 100 super athletic kid, but this one is pure electricity as a WR/DB/KR. I've heard comparisons to Chris Gamble, that he's a more polished Ginn Jr, or a faster Santonio Holmes.

That brings us up to 20 kids, with just 2 more available schollies. We lead for 5 star LB Grant, who visits Oregon this weekend. After that, there are a number of kids that we at least have a shot at. Closing out with Grant and Elijah Fields would probably be ideal. The latter has us in his top 4, but is still up in the air. He visits this weekend -> http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=145&p=8&c=1&nid=1692285

Here's a quick summary of our recruiting. Since this article went up this morning, McCarthy commited to Miami and Small to OSU: http://ohiostate.scout.com/2/492124.html

Check out these stats from Fields:
Had an unbelievable senior season, scoring 30 TDs and averaging 49 yards per score. Had 704 yards rushing and caught 42 passes for 1,167 yards.

Some bad news today. Chichester does not have the grades to get past admissions. He is gone. Apparently, we could have a couple others that might need to go the community college route to get past admissions. Notable on that list is Small.

What sucks is these kids have the grades and scores to get past the NCAA clearinghouse, just not past OSU admissions. Michigan State in particular has gotten several kids who wanted to play for OSU but weren't allowed in b/c of grades, the latest being Javon Ringer.

My biggest concerns re: admissions: Small, Gibson, Johnson, and Rose

Our class is not the same without these 4! It is a sad day when kids can get into UM to play football easier than OSU. :thumbdown

And the Fields dream is also gone. The coaches pulled his offer. Again, academic concerns. :(

There is alot of buzz that Wes Lyons (Devon's younger brother) will commit to us tonight. He's deciding between OSU and WVU. That would soften the Chichester blow abit, losing one tall receiver but gaining another. Chichester is 6'8" (!!!), Lyons 6'5".

There are also rumors that Chris Fox (cousin of Dustin) may decommit from BC and join this class: http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=145&p=8&c=1&nid=1981952

ok lets not be a HATER buddy.....you must be kidding with your comment on how its easier to get into UM than it is Ohio State....ill give you the beneft of the doubt that you are joking here....Michigan is 50 times the school that OSU is academically and thats just a well known fact....MSU is a different story because we have lost some kids to them because of Academics reasons as well but UM is not joking when it comes to Academics.....but once again ill give you the benefit of the doubt that you were joking

Sadly, I'm not joking and I'm not hating. For a football players, it's harder to get into OSU. I'll have to research who specifically we pulled schollies for b/c of academic reasons that then ended up going to UM, but I know it's happened at least a couple times the last few years, since Holbrook became pres. Not as many as we've lost MSU, but it's happened none the less.

Now, if you're just trying to go to school at OSU, not play football on scholorship, that's totally different. UM is then harder to get into. Which is why this is ridiculous to me. Why are the football players held to a higher academic standard then the general populous? I don't get it.

Anyway, Lyons commited to WVU. :thumbdown

So where do we rank in terms of recruiting as of now cstyle?

According to scout, we're 8th, but that's with us still having Chichester:
http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=145&p=9&c=14&yr=2006

We currently have the 4th most top 100 kids, so that's pretty nice (and Chichester was never a top 100, so losing him doesn't drop us).

Fudge...oh well

i dunno man ill do a little research myself....i respect your knowledge but i have to disagree here
