i dunno man ill do a little research myself....i respect your knowledge but i have to disagree here

dont waste your time bro.

i totally respect Cstyle and his knowledge but to be quite frank he is wrong here....so i wont be wasting any time....its a joke to think that academic standards at OSU are higher than U of M......and by the way U of M just picked up another 5 star recruit OT/OG , Steve Schilling....kid is a beast....and dont be surprised if we land 3-4 more 4 stars by then signing period deadline....which in my estimation should vault us ahead of you guys in the rankings but we will see.....coudnt be happier right now though

Since Holbrook became pres, she changed the academic standards for football. Every year UM takes a kid that we won't even offer b/c of academics. Greg Mathews is this year's example. This is a football only thing. Trust me, I'm not rubbing it in your face that OSU's academics are superior to UM's. I don't like losing these recruits one bit. Just telling you how it is. We're a state university, for goodness sake! Our goal is to provide education to the masses, not to deny all but the elite! It's pissing me off b/c the football program is being singled out and held to a higher standard.

The question lately is: can we live through the Holbrook Era of false academic elitism? This has been a period marked by athletes, though cleared through the NCAA for admissions, being denied access to the state university and ending up enrolling and playing at places like Michigan State, Minnesota, all the SEC schools and, yes, Michigan.

In the past few seasons, OSU lost the talented Javon Ringer to MSU despite the fact that he was eligible, he wanted to come to Ohio State and the staff wanted him. More celebrated cases included Dajuan Morgan and Miles Williams. We will never know all the admissions losses because some weren’t even eligible to visit on an official recruiting trip! Think that’s not true? Take the current case of Top 100 WR Greg Matthews, who was initially turned away by the “screening committee” at OSU for a campus visit, but then was accepted for admission at Michigan…
Matthews, a current UM commit, wasn't even allowed to visit OSU, let alone get an offer.

Right now OSU's academic standards for the football program are at or near the top of the Big Ten. Which sucks.

Since the start of the JT era, UM has finished ahead of OSU in the recruiting rankings (I believe) every year but 2002. It hasn't done them much good on the field. I've seen JT coached 2 and 3 star kids out perform other schools' 5 star kids many times. Which is why I'm happy when we get a 2 star kid like Gant. If JT offers then I want the player. I'm willing to bet that JT has more national titles than any of the recruiting "experts" ranking these kids. You can see it on the field (not to mention in the nfl draft) that his talent evaluation skills are fantastic.

Here are some nice video bios of Chris Wells and Greg Oden. The links are about half way down the page:

I wonder how many times the #1 football player in the country AND the #1 basketball player in the country have gone to the same school? Very, very cool.

Ummm, a link was provided. It was only scout.com, you know, one of the biggest recruiting sites in the country? Just them.

ok and it was also all over Rivals that he did take a visit...probably the bigger and better site over scout

this is a little quote from Bill Kurelic...he is a mani guy for rivals and one of the Buckeye Editors....

Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater wide receiver Greg Mathews has made official visits to Michigan, Ohio State, and Florida State. Is his commitment to the Wolverines a done deal? Mathews' mother, who has been on all three visits, gives her thoughts.

i can give you more of the rticle tomm but for some reason my account is screwed up....so im telling you he did visit Ohio State trust me...he has family in Columbus and his mom was pushing him to go to OSU because of it....i dont know about whatever your article has to say but i think its wrong

Rivals being better than scout is pure opinion.

fair enough....whatever is whatever man, im not trying to get in this ever long battle with you...you know your stuff and so do I, and we disagree on the admission thing, so be it

Grant's a Buckeye:

He'll be there for spring ball, so I should have as good a shot as anyone at getting one of the starting spots. If nothing else, he should see time on special teams. The guy blocked SIX punts at CCSF this year!!!

Now we're just waiting on Corey Peters. He's the only kid out there that we still have a shot at, unless JT's going after some kids completely off the radar (which has been known to happen).

Thursday is Signing Day. Can't wait!
