Rodney Hood: Won't be missed

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Really like him long term: just seems like one of those guys who has the tools and just waiting for everything to fall into place.

Reminding me of a K Love type player, you really need to get him involved to be effective. He gets lost during the game

To be the kind of player we really need him to be he still needs to get his 3-ball going. The fall-off since Utah has been a little shocking. He's diverse enough that he contributes even without that, but he's not going to have the kind of impact we need from the 2 spot unless he can get up in the 35-40% range on a significant number of 3s.

I was disappointed in how little he got to handle the ball last night. With both Calderon and Hill out, I thought his opportunities to handle the ball would got up but it seem like he got less opportunities than usual. Was allowing Hood to handle the ball a coaching decision by Larry Drew vs Lue?

He doesn't need to handle the ball much. I'd love to game-plan him like Golden State game-plans Klay. Both have similar skill-sets. For that to work though, Rodney can't hesitate or be gun-shy, he has to launch.

I feel like handling the ball gets him comfortable and in rythem. Give him the chance to slash or throw up a floater tend to get him to start knocking down spot up threes when they come to him. I think it actually get him to be less hesitate or gun shy.

I liked this because he does need to launch those 3's. I think he could have helped cut down on some of LbJ's turnovers. Not sure why, but especially at the beginning of the game Lebron is going half speed and seems more likely to turn it over. Hood can definitely bring the ball up, and that helps LBJ out a lot.

Hopefully this no pg thing doesn't continue.

Not 100% sure, but I remember Clarkson and Hood trying to bring the ball up the floor in consecutive possessions (like midway through the 2nd or 3rd quarters). Both had the ball stolen easily.

It would be one thing to help LeBron with ball-handling duties for a couple of minutes at a time, but it was pretty bad last night when the Wizards went on their run.

Would be nice for Hood to go ham on shooting the ball. Not sure it's still out of the question for the rest of the year, but it's not likely.

Coaching staff should show him some Michael Redd tape over and over. Hood isn't limited, that's what I love about him. He can do some things out there, I'm not saying at a superstar level, but maybe an all-star lite level. He seems like a guy that can easily average 17-4-4 if given the keys to do so.

He does have potential to be an 2 time all star at the very least I believe.

Physically, but mentally he doesn't. He's too soft to make an all star team when guys like Kemba can't make it

True, I'm just giving him some time to figure things out since he's 25. If Cavs ever have a good 1st half season where winning teams gets 3-4 Allstars, and Hood performs, I think he can get the nod.

Fuck Michael Redd for deciding to stay in Milwaukee instead of coming to play with LeBron in Cleveland.

The problem is always that the coaching staff is not good at getting open shots for these guys. That's why Clarkson and Jeff Green are favourites of the staff. They don't give a shit if they miss 50 shots in a row, they're still going to take them open or guarded. Hood needs to get a few easy shots before he can start asserting himself. But our offense for him has been "dribble out the clock and then pass to him to chuck a bad shot."

I agree completely. Hood has a higher ceiling than many might realize. The kid just needs to be developed. Put him on the Spurs and he'd become an All-Star.
