FYI, this is the article and the quote from the ABJ that they vaguely reference. I believe this site misinterpreted Lloyd's blurb about this.

The Cavs have been active in talking to other teams about possible deals in which they would be the facilitator in making salaries work under the cap. One source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak on it, thought the Denver Nuggets were close to shipping Carmelo Anthony to the New Jersey Nets last week. That was stalled after the death of Anthony's sister.

The Cavs could be a third team involved in such a deal, but they would require at least one draft pick in exchange for making the salaries fit using their trade exception.

Sounds like they took the bolded quote and then the sentence after it to mean that the Cavs were involved in the deal. That is just Lloyd speculating that the Cavs could be involved. Furthermore, they speculate about Devin Harris too. All of a sudden the Cavs are getting Harris in a 3 team Carmelo deal.

In summary, this isn't solid info, maybe it could happen but the article is based on theories and assumptions.

Devin Harris is 27 years old and has a PER of 20.58 this year...

You're not going to acquire a top pick in the draft without either giving up a star or getting back a guy that team doesn't want anymore. I'll gladly take a Devin Harris as the "take this guy off our hands & we'll give you our top pick" guy.

The other thing you have think about in a move like this is not just value the player you are receiving has to "your" team but what the player can be moved for in the next few months or over the summer around the draft.

Getting Harris in a deal that would only involve the use of the Cavs TPE would open up more moves with teams like Sac who have been rumored to be looking at PG's with the skill set of a Mo or Harris since before the last draft took place.

To me, this 3-way trade has been dead for a couple days now...If it's "stalled" then what else is still putting a snag in it...the death of Melo's sister still? Has he played since then or no? What else is the snag in this trade? Getting Devin Harris would be good...but I'd expect a first rounder to go along with it.

Now that I think of it...this trade can be pretty much be dead because who in their right mind will trade 5..counting 5 first round picks for Melo? I wouldn't want the Cavaliers to be trading their first rounders away for Melo to go to New Jersey. Fuck that.

I really doubt the Cavs are going to land the Nets 1st rounder. Call me crazy but the Nets pick lottery protected or not AND Devin Harris for the trade exemption? I don't think that's happening. If Varejao is invovled, maybe I can see that but not sure the Cavs will want to do that one.

Imagine if the Cavs got pick #1 and NJ had somewhere in the 2-6 range, that would be a quick way to rebuild for sure

everything mentioned is a rumor of what was going to go down b4 melos sister passed away, and it was put on hold so if the rumor is true it could possibly happen but no one knows thats y its called a rumor

Read my post above. It's just speculation from that site based on blurbs in Jason Lloyd's column in the ABJ. Lloyd didn't say the Cavs were getting Harris or even involved in the deal that was supposedly close to happening.
