The Knicks, though, may tap the Cavs to make one final roster move before or during camp. Eric Snow, whom the coach may pursue to play alongside Stephon Marbury - as he did for Brown in Philadelphia with Allen Iverson - is on the market following the Cavs' signing of free agent Damon Jones last week.

With more than $25 million due over the next four seasons, Snow wouldn't come cheap. But if the Knicks can convince the Cavs to take one of their high-priced players, such as Malik Rose (three years, $19.6 million left) or Maurice Taylor (two years, $18.8 million), a deal could be struck.

Using Penny Hardaway (one year, $15.75 million) or Tim Thomas (one year, $13.975 million) wouldn't work for salary-cap purposes without the addition of another player besides Snow.

Man, I wonder if we could dump Snow AND Newble on New York...heck, I would take Malik Rose, Mo Taylor or Tim Thomas if it meant getting rid of those contracts...plus, it would mire the Knicks even deeper in cap hell :hehe:

Probably unlikely but still.

Re: Snow Trade

If I was confident in Luke running the point, I would have no problem. I suppose we can sign a veteran PG to the minimum if this goes down.

When Andy comes back, we would be deep with bigs. That would be like 8 or 9 people over 6'8".

Re: Snow Trade

No thanks..

First off, I don't want nothing from the Knicks.

Second, Not only do I not want a knick, but it just took us a whole Flippin' summer to get a PG. So we don't need to lose one.

Third, I love the fact of having a solid defensive perimeter player coming off the bench..

If Luke Jackson is any type of a defender like he was in Summer League ? Our second unit will be a better defensive unit then our 1st. (Which will be nice, considering we have an incredible 1st unit offensively, and we will need guys to hold a lead or keep it as close as possible)

Who is left at point in FA? Steve Blake, Troy Bell, Gary Payton...I don't know about any of these guys. All we would have in vet minimum for them. I suppose Hughes could cover minutes at point and Jackson could have a go at playing some minutes at the backup 2?

Re: Snow Trade

The lack of guards out there is too scary to make this move. Are we also trying to turn into the Knicks and have a squad full of power forwards. Losing a couple of years of Snow's contract would be nice, but Ferry has made moves to contend now, and not so much in four years. Our window is open now, so I'm not about to close it for the Knicks.

Re: Snow Trade

I honestly wouldnt mind Payton off the bench...if we so happen to trade Snow.

Maybe add Boston into the equation. They have about 35 point guards on the roster.

Newble's defense is okay, but what else does he do? Is he really going to get time over Jackson or Pavs who are young prospects with more upside. Newble was a Paxson after thought...you could pick up any number a players just like him for less money every offseason.

Snow is a fine player. I like Snow, but his contract is a pain. Picking up Thomas for ONE year is not that heavy of a burden IMO. He IS a contributor. Just seems like these are small beans for the amount a flexibility this gives us in the future to actually assemble a team we want.

I like Marcus Banks, but I can't think of a threeway trade that would work for Boston.

you guys, Tim Thomas IS NOT a possibility. He makes nearly 14 million this season. It would take another player on top of Eric Snow and Ira Newble to pull the deal off. And that player would have to be someone in the 3,4, or 5 million dollar range. Wow, lets just throw in LeBron James, Drew Gooden, or Donyell Marshall to get Thomas' expiring contract!!!! Yeah........... :/

Nate's the only guy on NY's roster I really like and he makes next to nothing and nobody is going to trade him. Then when you look at the rest of New York's roster, I honestly don't see anything I want, especially their own players with equally as bad contracts.

Nobody can trade for a signed rookie until December 15 at the earliest.

Malik Rose is an interesting option, but we're stacked at the 4 and its not worth trading away Snow. I'd rather just sign a real center. In fact, i doubt that Snow is "on the market" as this article claims. There is never anything but overt positives coming from the Cavs organization about Snow. Hes worked his butt off over the summer, hes a leader, hes got good character, hes got lockerroom presense, etc. And they're all true.

Newble was lacking as a starter, but is going to be the perfect bench guy coming in behind Larry Hughes or Lebron until Pavs or Jackson proves themselves.

Also, Newble and Snows contracts are really not that bad compared to what New York has

Which kills any real reason to trade with NY in the first place (not that I think there was any reason in the first place but for sake of argument).

I have an idea..Snow Newble for Jerome James :D Then we can sign Blake or someone and maybe a summer leaguer and we are set play Hughes some minutes...Penny would kinda be nice to have since he is 15 mill in cap coming off the books but we dont need it for next year's FA there are no pg's outside of Terry..
