"Rumored" Snow Trade

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
not a huge fan of newble but

Fact: who was the only starter on the cavs last yr that allowed less than the league avr points scored? Newble

Fact: Who was the only player beside lebron to hit the 3 during the last few months when jeff became a baby? Newble

Fact: How many good defensive players we have? 3, one being Newble, snow, Hughes(decent man, good weakside.)

We can't trade 2 of our best defenders and i rather keep the 1 that can shoot. Snow i do like but i think if we can get something better and get rid of his contract then we should. Newble i would trade him for the right ppl and defensive 5 should be in the equation(i doubt we can get this for him). Lets face it we aren't gonna get some guys that shoots well if we trade snow and newble together we would just get trash.

Newble showed what we thought he would do a few yrs ago when we signed him. It came late last season and alot of brick jokes came but since now he found his stroke the last few months(49%) and said he is gonna continue to work on his shot i am reluctant to trade him unless we can get a good backup center.

We will need his defense as well as the extra shooting. His stroke seem back to his Hawk days which is finally making this signing by paxson acceptable.

Where did you get your stats from Aggresive? I honestly thought Newble played below average defense last year. 82games has him giving up 21 points per 48 while his counterpart had an efg% of over 50. I'm not sure what the league average is per 48, but both Gooden and Z gave up less points with a lower efg% then Newble. James was about the same as Newble. McInnis and Snow gave up less points per 48 then Newble as well.

I really haven't looked into it and could be missing something.

With Damon Jones in the fold, Eric Snow is almost irrepaceable in my mind. I watched Jones trying to guard Billups, Arenas, and Kidd. We're going to need Snow's defense or we're gonna be toast again on the pick and roll next year.

The Marshall/Snow combo coming off the bench is ideal in my mind and will allow Snow to be much less of a liability on O

why do you guys insist in even speculating on a trade with new york, this will never happen people, just like all of the z trades.

the knicks are between a rock and a hard place right now and every g.m. in the league knows that. all g.m.'s have learned from what isiah is doing, becuase it has put the knicks is a financial delimma for years.

we would get rid of a big salary to get a big salary, doesnt equate.

The key reason why I would do it is length of contracts. You guys can go ahead and tell me Newble is solid and necessary  , but this is the first I have heard about it. Like I said, he is okay but you can pick him up in the form of another player every offseason and he doesn't cost that much.

Anyway, I am not really counting on this trade going through...this just offseason lull discussion. Nothing serious.

Nobody can trade for a signed rookie until December 15 at the earliest.

New CBA has changed this to only 30 days from signing, from what I've heard.

Newble is an effective defender when guarding small forwards i.e. the bigger slower guys.

Newble guarding shooting guards is bad, newble does not possess the speed that is needed .

i dunno... i would actually do it for tim thomas. Not for him, don't get me wrong, but for the future. Whoever thinks we are gonna win now, i mean win more than a series in the playoffs, is dreaming... As far as looking ahead, we off drew, newbs, and Yayo for TT. So this year, we would still make the playoffs and get some experience, and THEN, we have some $cratch to throw around next summer... Can one of the awesome researchers of this board find the big-name FA's next summer? Think about it: snow is good, but aging even if in better shape, and where will he be down the line?; newble is overpaid, even if good; and drew will probably walk for mas dinero next year. So we lose temporarily, but i don't think we would look back on this, long term, and talk about how terrible it was, esp. with a better draft pick (assuming the team gets worse this year after the trade) and the chance to land a whopper FA. The other thing is can anyone calculate our cap room with and without this trade for the next few years?... Whatever, i am making too many demands, but the point is, i am surprised that so many people are against this, esp. after the "snow can't shoot" talk, since u have to look long term.

with or with out snow, we have no scratch. We'll be over the cap for years with or with out snow.

i dunno about that. Meaning, i really don't know about the validity of your statement. U are saying our contracts will go up incrimentally so much that, after losing snow, and gooden, and the predator (oh, i mean ira), we will still be over the cap when it is all said and done? Also, u could have a valid point if we are so close to being over the cap that we don't have 5.5 Mil to spend, in which case, tis better to be over and have the MLE, right? So, i dunno, but TT is not terrible, and if we could somehow free up cap space to get another star, it could be worth it, but i don't know all that cap stuff. I would really like to see some cap numbers with and without the trade, if anyone can rock that.

Any trade involving Eric Snow won't happen this offseason. He has much to prove still and the organization will be generous enough to the guy to allow him to. Trade deadline would be when it goes down... probably for that expiring contract to strengthen our next offseason. We're eventually going to want to unload Snow and Newble, and this would be the perfect opportunity: our roster will shrinken during the playoffs: not too many would be required to play.

Yeah, that is the most realistic view of the whole situation. Nobody from the Cavs front office has even hinted at Snow going anywhere. Pretty much every time he is mentioned it is a gimme that he is going to be around. That is fine. He isn't going to hurt us.

I outlined a trade earlier that involves Toronto, where we wind up with Alston and Loren Woods, Snow winds up in new york and toronto winds up with Jamall Crawford..I still think that trade works, salary wise and team wise. We get better, New York gets better and Toronto gets better.

I know someone is going to say Toronto won't give up thier point, but recently Babcock has been saying he is serious about Jay Williams.

The Raps have offered Williams a non-guaranteed contract for about $640,000, which is close to their salary cap limit.
Toronto Sun.

I heard ESnow is at the Gund and looks in great shape and playing well. Lost a lot of weight and he has allegedly been working hard on his shot. They played 5 on 5's this week with some of our key players and some of the guys still trying to make the team. Lebron, Z, Marty and Luke playing too.
I was a HUGE critic of Snow last year....he may prove to be a real asset with this year's squad. Maybe even create some trade value for himself.

Can someone give me some names of ANYONE they remember Ira playing great(or good) defense against last year? I went to most of the games and honestly can't remember him holding any of the better players under their average. He was a "defensive specialist" in name alone. I think the Pax was probably embarrassed at having a player who averaged 5 points starting at SG and christined him with that misnomer.
