Do Not Sell My Personal Information

i too think the ira's defense was overrated. it just seemed that he was not quick enough to play D out in the open.

I wouldn't say overrated, he didn't get much help. I think you'll se Ira's D look better this year with Mike Brown establishing a system rather than Silas' just work hard on the court, no system' style.

Ira can play a good role on this team for us.

I am curious Max, Has he been south of the law since 2000 or is that an old chapter. I think all of the problems I know about in recent history are related to his relationship with Toronto.

If we are going to discuss "quitting on the team" I think we have to consider the example set by Vince. By quitting on the team he was released from the hapless Raps and made it into the playoffs next to Jason Kidd

South of the law? Does punching David Wesley in the package last year count? LOL! No, to my knowledge he has no been arrested since 2000. But to say it is an old chapter would not be accurate IMO. His legal problems were a result of him not controlling his emotions....I don't think anyone would deny he has this problem to this very day.

And i'll concede Mitchell is a horrible coach, but Rafer got run out of Milwaukee for his run-ins with George Karl. Karl resorted to playing Ray Allen at point b/c things got so bad with Rafer.

Again, I'm looking at the whole package. Attacking & choking neighbors, punching a woman, dropping a weight on someone's groin, walking out of practices, arguing with coaches, threatening to retire, punching opponents. This guy has some deep issues. Would coming to Cleveland finally make Rafer happy? Maybe.....but maybe not. This is not a risk I'm willing to take, especially with Lebron's contract coming up.

I think Maximus has said enough about Alston to turn even his mum against him. The guy has issues, and there is no reason it wont rear its ugly head here. He would be playing behind Jones, and if Damon is playing well, Rafer may see little time. That to me may be a bomb just waiting to explode. Sometimes you just have to forget about the talent and look at the person himself.

Apropos Karma's, a few years ago I was riding the subway uptown to Columbia University, reading the weekly NBA stats from USA Today. I noticed a woman sitting next to me, partly because she was attractive and partly because she was watching what I was doing very carefully. After a few minutes, she said, "I noticed you are reading the NBA statistics. My son plays in the NBA." I said, "Really, what's his name?" She said, "Rafer Alston." I said, "I know about him." She said, "He's a really good player and he's not as bad a guy as they make him out to be." At this point the train pulled into 96th Street, and I got off to catch the local and she went on to Harlem.

I'm sure Ferry'd do his home work on Alston before bringing him in if their was a deal in place.

maximus the altercation alston had with his coach last year was because of the coach, the coach was the one who started it. i remember on i think it was the best damn sports show, one of his teamates told the story that the coach even brought it up at a christmas party. brown got in his face and alston, like a man, gave it back to him. the coach said that alston kicked his ass.

so that discounts that one situation.

I am sure Alston deep down is a decent human being...but that doesn't really make a difference if he is constantly going to create trouble and confrontation to salvage his ego. He is emotional. That is clear. The history speaks for itself in my opinion. We could probably sit and explain every situation away, deflecting the blame away from Alston, but I would rather not take the risk. Same reason I wouldn't want a Artest on this team, or any other moody headcase.

Team chemistry can take a team A LOT farther than the efforts of one talented player.
