Seattle Mariners @ Cleveland Indians - August 22, 23, 24

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I said up until now. But even before the last 3-4 games, they were playing below .500 ball with only two hurt at a time. Yes two still hurts, but in a crappy division like this, all they needed to play was .500 ball with those injuries. When shelley duncan is the backup dh, and kearns is your 4th outfielder, thats not good.

Shelley Duncan and Austin Kearns have both been that for the Yankees, Kearns was last season.

The Yankees don't have better depth, they have better talent.

And they pay for it.

You could not be more right with the statement that I bolded from the response. Dont waste your time arguing with some of the posters on here. They will be making excuses for the rest of their lives. Meanwhile this city has not won anything since 1964, and the Indians have not won a World Series since 1948. They settle for mediocrity and will always have an excuse lined up.

What you take as "excuses" happen to be reality.

So somehow because they haven't won anything since 1948 means they should make ignore everything else...Sounds more like the all to typical self loathing attitude by fans these days.

It seems every year we hear the same things from people/fans of Cleveland sports teams. Something is always wrong and the main reason we did not win it this year. It's always something.

Not enough talent.
Bad management
Injuries
etc

With every team Cleveland has, the reasons for losing are vast. Many almost never get pissed off, but somehow make themselves feel better because Gosh, there is always that ONE GOOD excuse. It only takes one of them, but that will be the one we use to excuse the losing in Cleveland, Ohio.

I feel we are better than that as fans. I'm tired of trying to find excuses as to why our team just couldn't make it. I'm tired of giving passes to coaches, to FO's, to most everyone involved with our teams just because there always seems to be a handy excuse waiting to be used right around the corner.

Yet again; I'm hearing the same damn excuses being used for our Cleveland Indians.

Just as much as the next fan and probably even much more as I'm much older than many in here, I WANT TO WIN. I feel I will never see a Championship in Cleveland from my teams; the Cavs, the Indians, the Browns... in my lifetime. I don't have a whole ton of years left. I'm tired of the excuses. There is always an excuse.

Just win. No more excuses. Just win.

Little too much emotional investment IMO. Sometimes you simply have to put things in perspective and determine how much this team has an impact on your life and mood everyday.

There are reasons teams lose, simple as that.

Hopefully one of these years all the stars will align and the magic will happen, but quite frankly you have to prepare yourself for the fact that this team can do just about everything right and still not win anything (see: 1990s).

I agree with this - not having this team play well for a few years really got to me. Losses in the middle of the summer were crushing and I got too emotionally wrapped up. Now that I am back at school and all of that, I have remembered that 1.) Cleveland sports does this to me every year 2.) and regardless, it doesn't change my REAL life anyways.

I am not too emotionally attached to this team!!!! (although my slit wrists and dried tears beg to differ)

All right. Fucking sick of this defeatist shit.

SPARTANS

Prepare for GLORY!

Both but at least our manager doesn't twitch like a fiend
