In 2006, Grady Sizemore led the American League in runs scored (134), doubles (53) and extra-base hits (92). Granted, 92 extra-base hits isn't as impressive as it once was. In 1995, Albert Belle became the first American Leaguer since 1940 to top 90 extra-base hits, but since then it's been done nine times in 11 seasons.

Good read..Sizemore is a ton of fun to watch he uses the hitters ballpark to his advantage and hits the gaps..he's an amazing fielder...I think he's on caliber to be as good as or better than Jim Edmonds..

Glad to see him get some love..

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

I was fortunate enough to see Sizemore play quite a few games in the minors - both in AA and AAA. What impressed me the most was that if he had a poor game offensively he wouldn't let it take away from the rest of his game.

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

He seems really unselfish one of those guys who gives you everything he has every night...cares more about winning than personal accolades.

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

O yes,he will be the face of our baseball franchise for awhile.

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

Or at least until we need a new OF.

I heard he finds Boston accents annoying and prefers grey sox..

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

boston red sox. what a joke of a franchise.

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

if you think that Georgie boy or Theo wont try to get him if either team needs a OF...you have strongly underestimated the power of the dollar.

Grady is sweet. And as long as he stays healthy he'll be better than Edmonds, no doubt.

As for thinking about him going to Boston or NY, I think I just threw up in my mouth. This is the fundamental problem with MLB - they make it almost impossible to retain your own players when they become FA's with NYY, NYM, and Boston lurking. The money that is paid by these teams is sickening and it will never be a level playing field unless things change, which the union won't allow. It frustrates me to no end.

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

That's why baseball is a garbage sport..

Large markets box out the entire league and fight over which steroid abuser they want on their team..

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

its not like it has had positive outcomes, outside of the Sox winning the Series in 2004, none of these power house teams has had much playoff luck. and plus, a different team has won the world series the past 7 years...there hasnt been a MLB dynasty since the Yankees won 4 out of 5.

So that theory isnt really valid. So if you want to hate a sport based on dynastys or large market teams that do well, or the same team doing well all the time, i guess the NBA would be that sport...

I hate the Western Conference if that counts?

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

The only consistansy in baseball is the teams who overpay Free Agents, thats about it.

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

James that sounds so snotty.

BOS and NYY think they have baseball teams because they buy players with money that other teams don't have.

Just makes it all the more sweeter when we beat them. I remember at a NYY @ Cleveland game the Yanks were up by 4. And the chants started coming in from their fans. 8 Cleveland runs later a sign from a little kid read "This is what $205 million buys?" Boston is the second evil empire now.

Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star

Hey but guess what buddy, i bet the only time the Jake sells out is to see the Yanks and the Sox play, thats why they have the most nationally televised games between the 2 of them, whenever you go to a Sox game almost anywhere, there are tonnns of red sox fans same with the yankees, and guess what? both teams have devoted baseball fans, Sox finished 3rd in the divison, and guess what? every game at fenway was if not sold out, had all the seats filled. These teams generate money, wether you like it or not, and so far, only one team has had success with the whole "over pay players theory"
