Re: Sizemore Becoming A Star
We've been down this road before... you cannot compare Cleveland sellouts to Boston and NY. There are so many economic differences and population disparities that it would be idiotic to compare the number of sellouts those markets generate to what goes on here.
My point is that it's frustrating to watch young rising MLB stars follow the almighty dollar as they become FA's when there are only a few franchises that can afford these salaries. I can't hate the NBA for having teams that are consistently good - the major reason the league is great in my eyes is because they have a rookie salary structure in place that gives these players' home teams an advantage to re-sign them. And there is a salary cap in place that doesn't give one market an advantage over another.
Thankfully NY and Boston haven't been winning the WS consistently. But they are still competing in the playoffs virtually every year and the reason for that is not because they have great GM's.
James said:Hey but guess what buddy, i bet the only time the Jake sells out is to see the Yanks and the Sox play, thats why they have the most nationally televised games between the 2 of them, whenever you go to a Sox game almost anywhere, there are tonnns of red sox fans same with the yankees, and guess what? both teams have devoted baseball fans, Sox finished 3rd in the divison, and guess what? every game at fenway was if not sold out, had all the seats filled. These teams generate money, wether you like it or not, and so far, only one team has had success with the whole "over pay players theory"
