SJax and Z trade rumor

guys, its not like they would play z behind beadriens and turiaf so it'd make sense just for a salary purpose. big z would imediatly be bought out and would stay with us ala mcdysse.

jackson is one of the best at containing kobe which wed need because delonte/parker cant do it as well.

who cares about the salary, your not paying it and it wont affect us next year as we already have no money anyways.

If we can pick up Jackson for just Z, that'd be incredible. Our small-ball lineups would just be ridiculous, and there would be endless combinations. We could even put Parker at the PG (so really LeBron) and have a "big" small ball lineup:

Jackson
Moon
LeBron
AV

No one under 6'6" in that lineup, and everyone with the exception of AV can shoot pretty well. Also could put JJ in there for AV. In addition to that, you could have Mo/Delonte, Parker, Jackson, LeBron, and AV/JJ.

Delonte has yet to have a shot at Kobe as he was out during both games last year. We did lose Sasha who was a Kobe stopper for 1/2 of one game before he got hurt. If I remember correctly though, "Delonte will outplay Kobe."

That one lakers dude brought up the trouble Parker has on him. What about Moon?

Why is everybody so sure that we could resign Z? We could only offer him the BAE, while other teams could offer him the full MLE. Furthermore, we wouldn't be able to resign Z next year using Bird rights, which would mean he was assuredly done with the team after this year.

It may still be worth trading Z at the deadline, in certain scenarios (he's injured, not working well with shaq, etc.)...but that's definitely not true for getting jackson.

OTOH, i would trade Boobie+S&T Wally ($3 million dollar contract) for Jackson in a heart beat. That's a deal that I think makes sense for both sides (they save $3 million per year on a bad contract, we only speed $3 million a year to get a much better player)

Z has said multiple times that he wants to retire a Cavalier, and would even be willing to take a paycut to make it possible ... and now that he has two more kids to look after, it's an almost certainty that he wants to stick around in a familiar environment ..

I agree with what you've said. Kobe will just post up Delonte and we will be forced to help on the post. I can't believe some of you are actually thinking Delonte can contain Kobe. Delonte's height will hurt him big time against Kobe.

I think Stephen Jackson would be great here. He's had some success gurading Kobe before. I've seen kobe go off on him but that's not a surprise, Kobe is a great player. We just need someone to guard Kobe one on one without help. I don't want Lebron running around trying to defend him until the fourth quarter. Parker and Moon can't do it, atleast I don't think they can.

Jackson also gives us someone to throw at Lamar Odom. He's played the PF spot plenty of times and is not bad at it. His contract is bad but its not like we have major cap space next year anyway.

The only way I do the trade though is IF Z comes back (buyout).

Better options will surely pop up prior to the deadline.. However, I am one who believes the Cavs still need to improve at the 2/4 spots, and that the addition of Shaq is most likely temporary. As far as I'm concerned, our problems from last year are still somewhat present - we need better starters at the 2 and 4.. IMO, neither West/Parker/Andy should be starting on this team for varying reasons.

I would have loved this before he signed his new contract and maybe even liked it after that, but after the Moon and Parker acquisitions, it doesn’t make much sense unless we have a guarantee Z is coming back in 30 days…
