There's a ton of other 2x inductees but Clapton looks like the only 3xer from what I can tell.

Yeah im starting to think so too. I was hoping to get lucky with some crossover between guys in the Band or Booker T. playin in other bands but came up empty.

Or should be once eligible.

1994.

Alright. I went to search for them ctrl+f by typing "The Gr" and I got red boxed, meaning that phrase wasn't found. I assumed it was listed as "The Grateful Dead". My bad on that one, I knew it was seemed weird they weren't listed. Did that with some of the others so there might be more mistakes.

It's all good, Mike. Your call on Journey and Def Leppard makes up for it. They made my top 20 "snubbed."

Deep Purple, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Alice Cooper also deserve some recognition.

I voted for Joy Division, but it might just be an expression of sentimentality over some dame. I would probably support any of the bands that Keys listed.

This is good reading on the subject:

and finally, I'll toss in my vote for

Good call on Joy Division, especially since every new rock band that comes out these days sound exactly like either The Cars or Joy Division/New Order. Kraftwerk invented an entire genre of music, which deserves some recognition.

I went Jethro Tull. If they died in a plane crash in 1983 and didn't come out with all those weak albums in the second half of their careers, they would have been in ten years ago. They still tour and record, which I find impressive.

In terms of level of success Genesis

In terms of influence I have to give it to Kraftwerk.

Seeming how they induct bands every year it's hard to say a group has been snubbed yet. I'd wait maybe 5 years of eligibility to call them getting snubbed, how many cases exist on the list, just curious.

Frankly, I feel that since they are getting more and more into the 80's now, they should be careful, because you have to pick through a lot of crap to get some of the gems.

Here are some samples of the nine bands listed:

Since hip hop is eligible and we got the big two inducted already (Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and Run DMC), my vote goes to "other" for The Beastie Boys (King Adrock, MCA, Mike D., and Mix Master Mike).

Their in the same vein as Run DMC in that with their original release of "License to Ill" they helped blow up hip hop in the late 80s (the album was also the first rap LP to top the Billboard 200 chart). They raised their game with "Paul's Boutique" which took sampling (courtesy of the Dust Brothers) to an insane standard that hasn't been reached since. Those two albums are essentials for early rap music.

Each subsequent album had a different sound and feel to it, with each also being a big seller. "Check Ya Head" had a mix of rock and punk, "Ill Communication" saw some jazz and funk, "To The Five Boroughs" was classic hip hop, and "The Mix-Up" was straight instrumental. Their versatility in music, impact on hip hop, and lyrics earn them a spot in my mind. Also, let's not forget about their activism with The Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1996, and just last summer the "Get Out and Vote" tour (which I attended twice in Youngstown and Dayton).

They didn't make the cut two years ago, but I'm hoping now that Run DMC are in they'll get another shot at it.

Speaking of the Rock Hall, when I was at the ceremony earlier this year the Mayor said the plan was to bring it to Cleveland every 3 years, so, who's eligible in 2012?

The rule is 25 years after the first album dropped, so Beastie Boys have to wait until 2011.

I think old school hip hop is going to dominate the next few years of rock hall inductions... and I'm not going to complain AT ALL.

Eric Clapton IS the only person to be inducted 3 times so don't bother looking for another example.

Only 5 rock-n-roll bands have had at least 2 studio albums sell at least 10 million copies each. Four of them are in the Hall, the fifth should be. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, and Pink Floyd are in. The fifth is Def Leppard. The other obvious snub is Genesis.

Judas Freakin' Priest. :headbang:
