Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Also always sad to see Dooku taken out so early. Maybe it's just the Christopher Lee fan in me, but I liked the Dooku character a lot

The prequels really dropped the ball with the villains. Darth Maul literally didn't even have a character in the first movie. He just shows up, flips around some, kills Liam Neeson, and gets chopped in half. And they did next to fuck all with Dooku either.

Palpatine was fine, but the problem is that it's kind of dumb to use the mystery villain story format when we know Palpatine is the mystery villain.

Clone Wars animated movie and series really gave a lot of backstory and was pretty amazing if you've never watched it.

Agreed on Palpatine, kept making me wonder about all that "Jedi Wisdom". Palpatine telegraphed the shit outta that! :p

I also love how Palpatine is so obviously evil in every scene he's in, and always saying sinister and dark shit, and yet none of the Jedi ever even blink.

And Dooku tells them exactly what is going on, specifically about the Senate, and yeah, they don't trust him but you would think Palpatine would have been the obvious person to suspect. Who benefitted the most from the invasion of Naboo? Who controls the Senate?

C'mon now.

I mean, they used the same actor. Didn't Windu ever watch Return of the Jedi?

I did forget to ask..what do you guys think? Palpatine let Windu win? Or was Windu that powerful? I always want to go with Windu is that powerful, but I don't know. @gourimoko

Windu was that powerful.

He was the greatest lightsaber user in the galaxy; with Yoda as the greatest Force user in the galaxy...

The Jedi realized that Anakin would surpass both of them though, hence the fear.

Palpatine's strength is his cunning, his malice, and his full devotion to the Dark Side of the Force (as well as himself). He's a powerful Force user to be sure, but that isn't what makes him so dangerous. It's the fact that he's totally unrestrained, and will do anything to succeed and survive. You can't say the same about anyone that calls themselves a Jedi, which obviously Palpatine would consider a disgusting weakness.

I have been of the belief he let Windu hang with him. He took out 3 other Jedi Masters without really breaking a sweat, so I think was at least Windu's equal.

Then he made sure to wait until Anakin came and saw what looked like an execution from Windu.

When you have a crazy guy shooting lightning out of his hands and shouting "UNLIMITED POWAAAAAA" I feel like Anakin should have known he fucked up and chose the wrong side

Sources?

That's not something you just throw around. Especially at a time when there were a multitude of Jedi Masters and council members. Also rogue Jedi ala Qui-Gon. And Sith such as Darth Maul. Who quite possibly was unmatched- had it not been for the use of the force by Obi Wan.

I can't remember where I read it, but I also do recall Mace being the best with a light saber

Umm yea.

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, among other instances of this being mentioned.

That's not something you just throw around.

It's specifically mentioned by Obi-Wan in the movie.

Especially at a time when there were a multitude of Jedi Masters and council members.

Who aren't of the same Jedi class as Windu nor do they lead the council in the same way that he and Yoda do. This dynamic was established in AotC.

Windu was Master of the Jedi Order prior to Yoda (Grand Master of the Jedi). He was the greatest of the swordmasters.

Also rogue Jedi ala Qui-Gon.

Who is not known as a swordmaster.

And Sith such as Darth Maul. Who quite possibly was unmatched- had it not been for the use of the force by Obi Wan.

But Jedi are supposed to use the Force in combat. Not sure why Maul would be considered unmatched. Hell, it's quite likely Maul would've gotten his ass handed to him by Windu, Yoda, or an adult Anakin.
