Team USA and FIBA 2014 World Cup

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We do have a few aussie cavs fans here. One would assume that they would want Australia to win.

Upper lip asked if he was the only person rooting for Australia to beat us, as in the USA. If he's not the only one, I'd guess he's one of the few Americans hoping for us to lose for the Australian team.

Yeah, hence me saying that clearly isn't the case because we have a few aussie cavs fans posters here that I assume would want Australia to beat the usa. He probably doesn't even know we have aussie's like karma on this board.

Bogdonavich looks good for Serbia. Nets look like they have a solid replacement for Pierce

So does anyone think that the Cavs' current roster could probably beat Team USA (minus Kyrie, of course, since he'd be playing for us)?

I've thought that ever since the Love trade came through.

I don't think we'd stand a chance. Their depth and their bigs would be way too much to handle.

Yes, because who's going to guard LeBron? Harden? Gay? Thompson? Unless Rose magically returns to form overnight the Cavs would dominate.

Obviously the main issue for the Cavs would be depth. They'd have the two best players on the court (and Irving would be in the top seven or so), but Team USA goes eleven deep with either very good or solid NBA players, whereas the Cavs are more top heavy. Still, in a one-off game they could absolutely ride LeBron and Love for forty minutes, which would mostly negate that disadvantage.

But while guys like Varejao, Miller, Marion, and Delly aren't capable of dropping 30+ points like Gay, Cousins, Thompson, or DeRozan they're extremely effective complementary players with very high basketball IQ who can thrive playing next to stars like LeBron, Love, and Irving. The perfect recipe isn't to have ball-dominant stars from top to bottom. You have to have guys who can play well in a supporting role. That's why Faried looks like a monster out there...he's the only guy on team USA who naturally a supporting player (well, Thompson too, maybe), and he embraces that role.

Smh if you think they dominate this team you also probably think they win 70. USA would sweep the cavs in a series handedly at that. Even if we take out the USA bench and give them an average bench of nba players.
No answer what so ever for Davis and Cousins then you surround them with the splash brothers with kyrie guarding who exactly.

If you think Cousins is a superstar then yes, team USA looks very very good. I don't happen to subscribe to that theory, and I don't think a team with no veteran leadership will ever be able to play up to its potential for a full 48 (or 40, depending on format) minutes. If team USA came out against the Cavs the same way they came out against Slovenia today (and Turkey before) the game would be over at half time.
