Team USA and FIBA 2014 World Cup

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Who would have thought Davis and Faried would be the leading scorers of this squad? Faried has opened a lot of eyes.

It's funny 'cause if you look at Faried on offense it really isn't all that impressive what he's doing actually. staying active on the boards and making sure to run up the floor on the fastbreak to catch all the delicious lobs and that's basically the only way he's been scoring this entire cup. he is absolutely the one player on team USA to have benefitted the most from playing next to superior talent.

hopefully TT will be able to play like him this year

Dang, so much for Spain's vaunted frontcourt that was supposed to give the USA fits.

Brazil and Spain going down: did not expect that to happen. It's like a basketball version of what happened in the soccer world cup

I saw Brazil got smashed, I don't care as I DVR it and then just watch Andy but still, that to me is a shocker.

Lol I have no idea how people can be unimpressed by Derrick Rose. End of the quarter and his defender is giving him 3-4 feet of space because he's anticipating the drive and Rose still beats him off the dribble.

I expect Rose to stay healthy this year and avoid the unlucky injury bug, and a healthy Rose is an elite player in the NBA. Cavs/Bulls rivalry should be a good one.

Physically he looks pretty good, but his floor game hasn't looked well thus far in the tournament.

Yeah but that's expected for a guy who has missed 2 years of basketball due to injury. I look for him to start slow next year but get back to the level of play he was at pre-injury.

We will see, we don't know how his body will react to a more grueling schedule and work load.

Im gonna go ahead and say that Rose will never average 25 and 8 again. And I feel very safe saying that. He will not "get back to the level of play he was at pre-injury" like everyone is foolishly assuming (or hoping).

"Averaging 25-8" like he did during his MVP season and "getting back to the level of play he was at pre-injury" are two different things. I expect the latter not the former.

If he's healthy there's no reason to think it impossible for him to be the same old Derrick Rose he was pre-injury. Physically he looks like he hasn't missed a step. The only thing I'm noticing in his game right now is that his floor game doesn't seem to be quite up to speed (As TyGuy pointed out), but that's expected from a guy who hasn't had much game time experience in the past 2 years.

If you want to call me foolish for thinking that a healthy D-Rose can get back to the level of play he showed pre-injury then go ahead lol. However, you may want to call every other fan and analyst who views the Bulls as being contenders foolish also because that's what they're assuming as well.

That was probably the best game the U.S. has played. For a team that has its size questioned so much, they sure do rebound the hell out of the ball.

EDIT: And if I were running an NBA team, I'd have no problems giving Klay Thompson 5 years and 80 million. No other player in the league gives you that combination of shooting and defense.
