The 2013 NBA Finals Thread (Spurs vs Heat)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Who will win the NBA Finals?

Player A: 6'8.75", 6'11.25" wingspan, 8'11" standing reach, 221 pounds

Player B: 6'7", 7'3" wingspan, 8'10" standing reach, 225 pounds

Player B averaged slightly more steals and blocks per minute, and gave up slightly fewer points per play according to Synergy, overall as well as in isolation. Player A is Paul George, and Player B is Kawhi Leonard. If anything, the Spurs match up particularly well against the Heat since their one ace perimeter defender plays the same position as Miami's only major offensive threat.

Yup. There's a reason San Antonio traded George Hill for this guy. They loved his perimeter defense and versatility. He was supposed to be their Kobe stopper. Now he'll do his best to be the LeBron stopper. I think he'll fare better than Paul George because his entire focus will be defense. Kawhi is also one of the smartest players in the game. Just a quiet kid with a ton of competiveness.

Well, looks like Tank-God-cum-Lottery-God-cum-Ram-Miami-Up-the-Ass-God wasn't listening to my prayers this time...

I think this is going to be a very close series and a lot will depend on how Manu does. He didn't play particularly well but he didn't have to. Also, the role players of SA are really going to be relied on to step up big. Splitter on Bosh will be an interesting match up at times.

Miami in 5-6. They have no one to stop or even slow down Lebron. Lebron will explode in this series and that is not how you beat Miami. Kawhi Leonard is a decent defender but not in the class of George and Butler. Also Kawhi Leonard is having recurring knee issues which is a big problem trying to defend Lebron with. Also they don't even really have anyone to slow down Wade like Indy did. Their rebounding is not as dominant as Indy's and their defense is not as good as well. Also Bosh has outplayed Duncan in most of their meetings since the big 3 formed. The Spurs like to run a faster pace like the typical Western run n gun uptempo team as opposed to the slow grind it out D team of the east like Boston, Chicago and Indy. Duncan has lost a step in agility, though he is still a good defender.

It depends what Heat team shows up. If it was the one in game 7, Heat win in 5 or 6. If its the one that played most the other games, Spurs win in 5 or 6.

WHAT???
1.leonard can at least keep james from dominating and going off for 30+ a game (plus in the nba its team defense anyway)
2. Wade cant score case he is ass not cause of stephenson and green and joseph a capable defender and reed is a good one
3. duncan has played great ball best season for the last 6 i think. Dude mad all nba 1st team. He played great vs bogut, howard, and gosal he will dominat the pussy that goes by bosh and the child molestor

Also the spurs have a great bench neal, bonner, diaw, manu is a great second team so when parker goes it it wont be augestine, mahimi, and hansbro comming in

Is lebron going to have nightmares of 07 and it affects his game?

Do you really think the Heat played that great in game 7? I do not.

But there are so many variables in this series, it is hard for me to make a decisive prediction. I think Manu's performance will be the deciding factor. Guess, I'll say Heat in 7. Hope I'm wrong.

Gonna be a great series as a fan - it's so easy to root for the Spurs, and so easy to root against the Heat.

Indeed, it is easier than 2011, where much as I enjoyed seeing Dirk get a ring, I had to hold my nose as DeShawn Stevenson and wife-beater Jason Kidd helped him, and last year, when much as we liked OKC's draft building, they broke Seattle's heart.

Spurs in 6. They will not shit their pants like Indy did in game 7 or last seconds in game 1.. Let's be honest, Indiana lost the series.. Miami's playing like shit for a month now. If they continue to play like this, Spurs will take full advantage of it and beat them.

Fully agree. Game 7 was lost by the pacers because of the stupid turnovers and bad defensive principles in key situations. San Antonio will most likely not turn the ball over as much and won't over pursue James with 2 seconds left and no help defender near the basket.

The Pacers absolutely dominated five of the seven games, but their fundamentals (or lack there of) caused them to let two of those games slip.
