It's Pops v. LeBron.

The Spurs have all the right tools but Miami has LeBron. I think after last years championship LeBron is not afraid of any moment and will completely dominate this series. Heat in 5.

Am I the only one who remembers seeing lbj on the bench while the Heat closed it out last yr?

The awkward moment when you think the Spurs are older than the Heat.

I know, this cracks me up.

Heat are second oldest team in the NBA. Spurs aren't even in the top 5. (They are 7th oldest)

PROOF

Hell, the Miami starting lineup is on average a full year OLDER than the starting lineup for San Antonio, and that includes freaking Grandpa Duncan.

The Spurs invest in young guns like Kawhi Leonard. The Heat invest in old farts like Ray Allen. Guess which one is the better player now, and will be for the next 10+ years?

From Marc Stein:

Turns out that 22-year age gap between Gregg Popovich and Erik Spoelstra is biggest age gulf between coaches in Finals history, Elias says.

Who wants to start the viral movement to protest Scott Foster being a ref in any of the games? :chuckles:

Also

This is a crazy article about Scott Foster and weird calls dating all the way back 2006 iirc

I'm not sure the NBA actually cares who wins the finals. Miami winning the finals last year, actually hurt viewership this season by double digits. The Heat are in the Finals which is all the NBA really cares about.

The shitty part though, is in the Eastern Conference Finals, a guy who has an 11-1 record calling Heat games gets put on the card. And there is no way the NBA is giving direct orders to fix games. However, just like Tim Donaghy said about Joey Crawford, you see a pattern of who the NBA puts on certain games. The Lakers had an abnormal win percentage when Crawford called their games, and coincidentally, he gets the nod when the Lakers need him the most. It's nearly identical to the Scott Foster scenario. Foster was 11-0 for Miami in the playoffs until game 2 in the ECF where Indiana won in spite of him. I've seen a lot of people use that game as evidence that Foster does not have a bias. However, in that game, Foster was T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E. And Indiana got the "w" but what are the chances Indiana gets another win off a guy that is now 11-1 instead of 12-0? It's like playing the percentages in a sports bet....

In game 7, Foster was T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E. A lot of people have said it doesn't matter because the Pacers sucked, but Scott Foster shouldn't get a pass because Indiana laid an egg. If you go back and watch game 7, just focus on his calls and watch him manipulate the play throughout the game in Miami's favor. Poor calls on out of bounds, awful offensive fouls against Indiana, bad traveling call, etc. And on cue, he starts balancing out his calls in the fourth quarter when the game has been decided.

And don't even get me started on the Chicago series. Foster single handedly changed the complexion of that series with his quick whistles and biased technical distribution. There's a reason Chicago went off the handle the way they did, and all directed at a single referee. Scott Foster sucked out loud in every game that series as well. And let's not forget that the same guy who rang up Chicago 7 times on technicals while letting Miami play some dirty-ass basketball, is the same guy who slapped Sam Young and Brian Shaw with technicals for literally, nothing. Essentially not walking away from LeBron as he tries to walk you down. Really one of the worst technicals I've ever seen at the NBA level. And of course it was to protect Miami.

But when a guy has a record as blatant as Fosters in favor of one team, don't you inherently wonder if you've been rewarded the game for a reason? If I'm Foster, and I keep getting put on Miami games as Miami racks up W's on my watch, I'm going to assume I'm doing something right. There's a reason he is now called "Miami's personal referee".

Went for Miami in 5 out of respect to Pop, but I could easily see a sweep to be honest.

Indiani were a tougher test for Miami.

I'd be shocked if Spurs don't win at led last two games. Parker Duncan, and Pop are too good, and Miami isn't that good outside of James

Spoelstra has said that Miami is at its best when Battier is getting open looks in the corner. I agree. It means not only that the Heat are moving the ball well on offense, but usually the other team has a big they don't have to worry about on defense so Miami can go small and play Battier at the 4 or even 5. That's what killed OKC last year in the Finals. Perkins was a total liability.

I'm worried Splitter could pose a similar problem and that the Heat will be able to hide Battier on him on D and then stretch the floor with Battier on O.

But overall, the health of Wade is the key variable. If he plays like he did most of the Indiana series, then Spurs should win.

Flo Rida just came on the First Take and said Heat in four and gave Stephen A. an aneurysm.

Would try to neutralize Battier early in the series by playing Dajuan Blair. That dude will wear out Battier in the post.

Why not just use Tiago Splitter? A better passer, rebounder, and works in a better tandem with Tim Duncan.
