The Andre Drummond Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Meh... we've got Tristan Thompson, and he has a great motor and he answers questions very good.

Rch, we've had some good debates and chats as group here the last few days about draft picks, but at a certain point can't we just talk about a dudes game without a dig at a Cavs player? :chuckles:

Drummond had a great stat line tonight.

In other news, Anthony Davis is a monster.

Im trying bro (hugs Stereo) :chuckles:

But I just dont feel that way about Anthony Davis, Brad Beal, Derrick Williams, MKG or Enes Kanter. Those were all guys who we had no shot at getting and therefore, I absolve Grant for passing on. But these other guys, with Drummond JV and Barnes being the flag bearers, are like the reincarnation of Ron Harper or Larry Hughes for me.

This still has time to play out, its not past tense like Harper and Hughes, but I just like I was a broken record once I saw that Mike Brown had taken us as far as he could (exposure in the Finals) I feel the same now about Grant's team building. He got his feet wet during the demolition and held firm a few times in trades, now lets bring in a big gun with more say than our Coach and lets build a team around the games best PG in 2-3 years.

Drummond had a nice 13/10/2 Blocks in only 19 minutes tonight.

My guess is he will be starting soon along with Monroe to form a stud front line in Detroit.

He will be a massive upgrade over Maxiel and give them alot of size up front.

And he will have 2-3 GMs fired by years end.

As they should be. Hopefully the whole lot of advanced metric ones:chuckles:

We should be shocked they drafted him in the first place.

After all, they had an undersized PF already and that is all you need apparently in the central division to be set at the position.

Coach Frank keeps insisting that Drummond is the backup to Monroe, but at what point will he admit Jonas Jerebko, Jason Maxiell and Charlie Villanueva aren't impressing anybody as power forwards?

I believe he started with Monroe in the 2nd half when they played the Hawks and he ended up getting a double double early in the 4th. Seems like he really wants it....bad. but you know, all that means nothing to some people because he shot 29% from the free throw line in college.

I like TT, but watching Drummond play, it's different. TT seems all hustle and he's trying so hard which seems like he's struggling sometimes. But Drummond, things seem so natural. Him going for rebounds, blocking shots and the best part is dude can flat out finish....and we're not talking about monster jams (which is easy for him) but soft hands and finishing around the rim WITH contact. Which was something the naysayers were bitching about. I know it's only pre-season but that excuse can only go so far. If you watch him play, sometimes it makes you think, he's playing among boys.

i very much enjoy (most) advanced metrics at the nba level, but to use them for draft purposes is a little....optimistic for my tastes. guess it mostly falls on not wanting to extrapolate professional stats based on stats occurred at a level with so much talent disparity, among other issues. don't think any amount of regression or additional years of tweaking the model is going to change that, either.

in the end i'm just sickly jealous of detroit's new frontcourt more than anything. heh. not so sure about the rest of their team, but that duo is going to be great.

I hate them and I hope they burn in hell!

This thread is depressing. I really wanted this kid, and he could get 7 GM's fired if he booms, or one fired if he busts.

Stats and metrics should only be one of many factors and forms of info that go into making draft decisions. They shouldn't be the primary or deciding factor. I'm all for using every tool available. Just don't go overboard with them.

As a Cavs fan that Detroit frontcourt combo does not make me feel good looking towards the next decade. Can't think any Cavs fan would take Thompson & Zeller over Monroe and Drummond.

Dude can play, I knew this from the moment I watched him. They call him "the natural" his draft summary started with "rare breed of big man"

Yet everyone was like nahhh dudes a bum, he's the next Kwame, he's the next Diop. Wrong, Wrong he's just different, he's fluid and built like a modern day Wilt the stilt. He doesn't have a shitty looking build like Andrew Bynum. Drummond is 7' feet legitimately, but his body is in good proportion. Use stats all you want, Drummond is jacked and athletic as can be. FUCKKKKKKKKK

It's not that I dislike Tristan, I think he's going to be better than 75% of people think. But a frontcourt with Drummond at the 4 and Zeller at the 5 would have been unholy. Andre Drummond's physique alone was worth drafting. You will get more in a trade for Jevale McGee than Ben Gordon or Kevin Martin type of 2 guard.

All kids try to score. Scoring is not impressive, everyone tries to do it. Huge athletic 7 footers that can run the floor like LeBron cause the other team way more headaches than a gunner 2 guard. Unless Dion turns out to be Wade-like or Michael Redd like in his prime then I'm one IRATE cavaliers fan.
