The Future of Baseball in Cleveland

Got a call from my Dad in CLE...he heard it on the radio there. Supposedly the team or MLB filed a trademark for "Cleveland Citizens".

This was all I found online:

Look at the owner. Someone in Florida named Robert Sanders.

The Reds can and would fight this, unfortunately. Would be a fantastic idea though, except no reason to rob Akron of the Ducks, they support them and their ownership runs a good org. I'll go to Ducks games before I go to LC.

I can live with that if Huntington Park can be expanded. I just didn’t want it to go to another organization. I also suggest north of Columbus off of 270 so that Clevelanders have an easy drive down and don’t have to travel far.

Yeah because splitting a franchise’s home games has worked so well in past iterations.

I'm not in favor of splitting home games. There should be only one place called home IMO.

My apologies CDAV. It was a different poster who suggested home games be played in both Cleveland and Columbus. Of course I favor keeping all games in Cleveland. Columbus already has two major professional teams: Blue Jackets and Buckeyes. Yes, the Buckeyes.

What's your color palette for the jerseys then? Gray and Black with accents of green and orange/pink?

I don't think they have to change the colors.

Or would that be something people want?

I just assumed it would stay the same as a bridge to the past.

But if they did, it seems they would have a lot of options since the fish is very colorful. Silver, green, pink, black, oranges and blues.

It's pretty clear, the people's opinion in the name change hasn't been accessed or solicited...

It's pretty clear, the people haven't been convinced this is what they want...

It's pretty clear, sometime in the not so distant future..the people are going to be told the name change was for their benefit and we're all better for it..

..and the people's opinion.. with some massaging and a contest that imparts their after the fact opinions will be molded to agree that we not only want the name change but we agree with the name change..

...as just one of the people.. I will say that it's all BS...

As another one of the people, I have wanted a name change. Over the years I have written the Dolans, etc. to tell them just that. I feel heard.

Whatever, I guess I'm glad you feel "heard". If it makes a few like yourself feel better then the name change is what it is. What I won't agree with is that any part of what was the Cleveland Indians was derogatory towards native americans. To most of us it was quite the opposite and you people killed it. In a time when claiming to be offended and oppressed is in style I'm not surprised that the squeaky wheel got the grease. My question now is, will the likes of you finally shut the fuck up and leave us alone or will you find something else to be offended by?

How about the Schooners to stay with a nautical scheme?
