Suspect is being reported as Stephen Paddock, 64. He was using a full-automatic weapon - audio clips I heard sounded like 5.56, with magazines changed after every 30 or so rounds. Just a guess, though, based on shitty cell phone sound.
ETA:. Heard another clip that sounded like more than 30 rounds, so it may have been belt fed.

From what I have heard from several outlets was that he was able to reload the magazines.

Las Vegas shooting: 'YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE' – WARNING 45 minutes before attack
A LAS VEGAS shooting witness was reportedly warned that everyone at the Route 91 music festival was “going to die” 45 minutes before the attack near the Mandalay Bay hotel.
The witness, 21, told local news: “She had been messing with a lady in front of her and telling her she was going to die, that we were all going to die.
“They escorted her out to make her stop messing around with all the other people, but none of us knew it was going to be serious.”
She described the lady as Hispanic. The lady was escorted from the venue along with a man.
The unnamed witness, who was attending the event on her 21st birthday, described the pair as short, both around 5 ft 5ins to 5ft 6ins tall, and looked like “everyday people”.
She added she and her friends had just made it back to their hotel room when the gunfire started.
Marilou Danley, a person of interest in the Las Vegas Police investigation, was said to be an Asian woman and approximately 4ft 11ins in height.
Mr Lombardo said: “We have not located her at this time ad we are invested in talking to her for follow-up.”
There is no confirmed police link to the eyewitnesses' claim and Marilou Danley.
Ms Danley and her vehicle has now been located by the police.

Magazines would all have been pre-loaded - must have been a dozen or more of them. The clips I've heard weren't normal bursts, either. Guy was just holding down the trigger and cranking them out. He may have been using extended, larger capacity magazines as well.
Another outlet was saying 8 guns.

There are also 50 round drum magazines for the AR 15 (if it was an AR). If he did have 8 guns then he didn't reload he grabbed a preloaded weapon after 1 ran out.

Holy fuckkkkk. Sometimes when I'm in big public places I think about how everyone is screwed if something like this were to happen. People tell me I'm paranoid but you never know. Just awful.
Out in general public you don't have to worry as much. Parades, sporting events, concerts where there are large gatherings of people? Worry.

Makes sense - the rates of fire don't sound consistent.
Also heard he had cameras set up so he could see when police were nearing his room. The preparation for all that doesn't seem like someone who just momentarily snapped. This clearly required significant advance planning.
Likely going to see a lot of rumors and wild theories for a while....

At my school's basketball/football games there aren't any metal detectors or anything at all. I try not thinking about it but sometimes I do. There's nothing stopping something like this from happening except hoping no one is evil enough to do it.

In another thread, some teachers talked about the ALICE program which is plan intended to help minimize casualties in a mass shooter situation. While it's hard to implement at a concert setting, it certainly is possible to implement in non school settings, such as an office building. Now might be a good time to ask your boss if they have a plan in place for a mass shooting incident. If they don't. I'd recommend ALICE.
