The General Terrorist Rampage Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I will make 1 comment about this and then that is it. There are 1.8 Billion Muslims in the world. Roughly 25% are radicalized. That is 450M Muslims in the world are radical. The entire population of the US is 361M. The peaceful ones don't matter when you are looking at the number of radical Muslims is greater than the entire population of the US.

That is all I am going to say on the refugee issue.

Now I doubt this was a mental health issue. Too much planning involved. He left his home about 1 hour away with 8 or more guns and then traveled to the Hotel directly across from the concert. He was there since thursday and, according to some reports that Q posted, had cameras to see when police were getting near him.

This is not the acts of a person with mental health issues. This is a person that has been planning something for months, weeks or even years.

WE don't know his motives. We don't know if he was Conservative or Liberal (like the attack on the senators' playing baseball earlier in the year).

There will be speculation and rumors. I wonder if he left any of his intentions in his house that may provide more information.

His brother said he had no political or religious affiliation and must have snapped. Seems like mental health issues.

Perhaps too soon for levity, but this guy makes it obvious this was a country music concert:

25% of worldwide muslims are not radicalized. Time to log off of Breitbart homie.

It has nothing to do with Breitbart (personally I don't follow them anyhow) it was a claim made by Bridget Gabriel.

The data from polls shows that (the countries polled make up half of the worlds muslim population) 15.8% believed in violence to preserve the ideology of Islam not that they were the ones carrying it out. They believed in suicide bombings to preserve their way of life and Shira law.

The problem is we don't have full access to the data but the numbers are believable based on surveys out of the Muslim world.

True, but perhaps at their annual checkup they will talk it out, or show signs that their primary care physician notices and recommends they talk to someone.
They could recommend it, but they can't require it. Telling a mentally disturbed person that they should seek out mental help could trigger them into becoming violent. Even if they take the advice there's nothing guaranteeing that they actually end up going to a specialist for help.

We've seen a number of attacks where the assailant didn't show any signs of mental health problems beforehand. I think more attacks are carried out because of ideology than because of mental illness. When someone adheres to a radical ideology, whether that be a radical Muslim, an anti-abortion fanatic, a white supremacist, a Westboro baptist Christian, etc., they're unlikely to see their beliefs as a mental health issue. We can think "well anyone who believes in those ideologies has a mental health issue" but they're unlikely to think so and they're unlikely to seek out or respond positively to the idea of getting help.

If your family member went on a rampage what would be the first thing you would tell the authorities? I don't know why he did it he must have snapped...

Yes, if you keep reading, I noted these attacks. It's likely a "male" issue with mental health problems. Maybe Universal Health Care would help? Time for the Sanders plan? Heck, it's time to try something new. I think we would all agree with that.

But the fact remains, you are most likely to be killed by a white male terrorist in the US.

Months, certainly. Years only if he didn't have help.

What's interesting about the multiple guns is normally, you'd think he'd just bring a bunch of magazines for one gun. But firing that many rounds that quickly would overheat the barrels, so that's why he brought all those guns. But it's weird and very cumbersome.

Maybe he really did horde these guns legally over long period of time - he was in his 60's - and so just had them already when he decided to do this. I just know a lot of gun people, and I don't know anyone with that many fully-automatic weapons.

I know some major gun owners from Texas. They have as many automatic weapons as they can get their hands on because it is their belief that the government is going to "ban them" and therefore they want to have as many as possible for when the feds come to take them away.

"Las Vegas authorities were already on high alert before the shooting attack on the city's famous strip on Sunday night that left at least 20 people dead at the Route 91 Festival, after the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) released a propaganda video earlier this year showing footage of the site.

The 44-minute-long video released in May showed footage of the Las Vegas strip from 2015, calling on its supporters to conduct attacks with knives and vehicles, everyday weapons that its supporters have already used many times in the West over the past several years. The footage also showed New York City and Washington, D.C."

More mental health services and access through universal health care?

For what? Violating more people is the answer? Is this government health care going to mandate that everyone get screened? What other ideas are people going to get profiled for? What happens during the eight months the next shooter is waiting for his mental health appointment?

Might this idea prevent a few of the shootings? Maybe. Is it worth it to create a whole host of other problems?

Hooker gf that warned everyone was released. Why didn't she go to the police? Why was she drug out of the concert instead of taking her seriously? Why is this being buried?

she was out of the country and not at all the same person as the one who made a scene before the concert.

How is an annual checkup or going to talk to a mental health professional violating people? No it wouldn't be a mandate, stop with that bullshit, but if you have access, like we have seen with Obamacare, people will go to the doctor. Access not forced. It's worth a try.

Heck, I don't know the answer. Let the experts and eggheads figure that out. But obviously doing nothing and making excuses isn't the answer. Too many tragic days like today not to try something new.
