The Magic Number Thread: 2017 Edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Entirely likely the Cavs will have to win in Miami or Atlanta to officially clinch a top 2 seed (unless Toronto or Washington lose of course). Am I wrong?

It's not too early.

Wait should it be 3? Because Celtics also lost

So ... Both teams have 4 games left... the Celtics losing 2 games or the Cavs winning 2 games (or a combination) clinches the top seed, correct?

Change 2 to 3 in your quote. 3 is the combo number for the top seed.

You guys are gonna like the latest projections after tonight's dominant win over the Celtics. I'll go further in detail tomorrow night but odds are pretty good we have this wrapped up by Sunday or Monday.

Projected #1 seed clinch date: Cavs clinch on Sunday, April 9th

(P.S. You know the real best part about tonight's win? I didn't have to waste my time digging out a pic of Shumpert.)

I can't believe the Celtics didn't get the 1 seed. Easy schedule down the stretch, but that loss to Philly really hurt. I knew the Cavs were much better, but I didn't expect a 'playoff Cavs' performance until the playoffs, especially off a back to back. Once the Celtics lost last night, I expected a letdown performance tonight and Boston did the Cavs a solid... this means they can clinch the 1 Sunday and take the last two games off.

Miami is likely to again be the beneficiary of the team sitting out a game (it's usually always either Miami or Chicago).

Couldn't we clinch on Friday with a Cavs victory and Celtics loss?
