THE NBA CBA WATCH (LOCKOUT IS OVER / OWNERS WIN)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Considering David Stern owns the Hornets, its not that surprising that Paul is demanding a trade. I bet it doesn't happen either as long as the NBA owns the team.

A lot of the tougher rules on player movement don't come in until year 3 of the new CBA. The owners basically had to compromise on the 2012 class of free agents to reach a deal.

There is no way NOH will trade him to the Knicks. Unlike Denver, who got better after they traded Melo to the Knicks, the Knicks have NOTHING that the Hornets would want. Well, unless they were willing to trade one of the big 2 which they obviously won't.

If CP3 really wants to go to NYC, make him earn it.

I don't see CP3 getting dealt to the Knicks they literally have nothing of value to offer to the Hornets to pull of this trade. I still question whether Howard or Paul end up in a Knicks uniform during free agency because they would be taking a substantial pay cut. The only teams I can see Paul playing for would be Boston through trade (which he shot down) or the clippers which would give them a great one two punch with paul and Griffin. Maybe the lakers but if you trade Bynum for Paul you are weakening one position that is very important in the NBA and that is the center position. Ya Gasol could play center with Odom at PF but i would rather have bynum and gasol in there then paul at the point.

I agree with you guys.
Outside of some future draft picks, Landry Fields, & Billups' ending salary the Knicks don't have much to trade.

The irony in Chris Paul holding the Hornets franchise hostage is this...who owns the Hornets?...the NBA!! They took the team over from George Shinn and are still running the Hornets. In light of the recent combative CBA talks, I don't imagine the NBA is all too pleased with this development. They come off looking pretty bad, like the NBA's basically unchanged from a kniving/scheming that went on a year ago. I can't see them caving to Paul's demands.

New Orleans will send him to wherever they want.

All they need is a team which believes Paul will sign an extension.

What Paul wants is irrelevant.

Not necessarily.

uh yeah...that's not very many and most will probably want to hear it from Paul himself.

so yeah...what he wants is kinda relevant.

Players union has reformed, according to Ken Berger:

At 3 p.m. ET today, union had 289 votes authorizing it to reform. Needed 260. Press release was recalled bc final tally wasn't in yet.

This vote authorizes union to complete new CBA with league. Players/owners still must ratify it, which is expected next week.

Per Sam The Bullshit Whisperer
Chris Grant also said that the Cavaliers "will be aggressive" in free agency.

Yes!!!! Cavs are going to be aggressive to get AP back.

You can only compare Paul's situation to Melo, as none of the others demanded a trade.

If LeBron would have demanded a trade, we would be sitting much better off right now.

NJ traded for Williams without being sure that he'll sign an extension so there is always the possibility.

Also bear in mind that the Knicks have already 39M committed to Amare and Melo. Assuming they keep Toney Douglas and Fields, they will have about 45M committed already next year. I really don't see how they can sign Paul as a free agent and fill the roster with players that will contribute. Not to mention that Paul can make a lot more money elsewhere if he extends.

I just don't see it happening. If I were Paul, I'd get myself traded for Rondo and play my butt off to win a championship this year.

If the league allows CP3 to go to New York that means the owners lost. Because that was one of the things they were supposedly trying to get is a more competitve league. How can you do that if you have 2 powerhouse franchises in the east and 2 in the west. Really 1 in the west the other will be taken apart as soon as all those draft picks become free agents. The top 10 players in the league will be spread between 4 teams. What a bunch of BS. The only thing you can hope for in this environment is for a star to come your way through the draft and then you can watch them walk 4 years later.

Reporters who say Odom is enough for Paul are just demonstrating their bias for a local team. Odom, like the rest of the laker bench, is over rated because of where they play. Lakers dont have the pieces. They are crippled with contracts, I expect them to be on a 5-7 year rebuild once Kobe retires

Wasn't JJ Hickson supposed to net us Amare or Bosh? ;)

I imagine Odom would be there to make the money work out but the Lakers would still be throwing minimally a bunch of picks to New Orleans.

How dumb are the players? Getting that close to playing again without losing much (if anything) and they try pulling this before a vote even passes?

Smart actually. The last CBA I believe had penalties for things like players publicly asking for a trade. Since the league doesn't have a CBA at the moment ... no harm, no foul.
