The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why do I click....why.
Meh, now that the show is beyond the books, there has been a massive net reduction in spoilers. We get little nuggets, but big plot points remain under wraps.

Why do I click....why.

Looking at this spoiler, it kind of struck me how close we actually are to the end of the story on HBO. 13 more episodes -- that's it. So it kind of stands to reason that some of those long-awaited things had to happen at some point.

Although I suppose there were plenty of reasons why that particular event may never have happened at all.

I mean everyone predicted this awhile ago anyway

True, but my mind is so wrapped up into other shows at the moment, that I completely forgot about it.

Honestly, almost everything could be spoiled for me and I would still watch it. That's how great the show is in writing, production, music, actors..

just love it.

We also have no idea if some of this stuff will happen in the books. The fact that there's only thirteen more episodes and we're really not that far beyond the books at this point means that a ton of stuff is going to get condensed. We've effectively got thirteen episodes to cover a book and a half worth of content, and there's no doubt in my mind that the last two books, assuming Martin can even wrap things up in two books, will be massive. I can't imagine either being shorter than Dance or Storm, and those books were insanely long.

Right -- everything is going to be really accelerated. Even this last season moved at a much faster pace than every season except the first.

And that's not even getting to the fact that absolutely major plot points in the book like Aegon's return and Lady Stoneheart are completely absent from the show even though they will almost certainly play some sort of central role in at least the sixth book, if not the seventh as well.

Man, I really miss this show.

The offseason would be made not too bad by, oh I don't know, the release of Book 6?

I'm not sure that's a bad thing. The Lady Stoneheart story, while cool when it first happened, has petered out. And I think some of the other subplots have gotten out of hand, and explain why the books are taking so long.

I feel I've typed this same thing a bunch of times here.

And maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's a pretty big hint that the show has ignored Aegon and Stoneheart that they do, in fact, just peter out and go nowhere. I especially feel this way in regards to Stoneheart. That's going nowhere important.

I have to think that Stoneheart plays a role in killing Walder Frey. The book seems to be building up to that.

As for Aegon, I think he takes King's Landing in the next book.

I feel like Stoneheart factors into Jaime's death. But I could be wrong on that obviously. Jaime could be an endgame player, I've just doubted it.

If Stoneheart goes anywhere I've always felt it was a tragic direction. She kills or hurts (physically or emotionally) one of her daughters accidentally. That type of thing.
