The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Really? Thought that series was done.

Well...it was, though "Port of Shadows" has been listed as his TBA next book in the series for nearly 20 years. Apparently, it just came out. But it is supposedly set between the first and second books in the series chronologically.

I know there are a lot of big fans of the show in here, so I figured I'd share this:

I always use the scores from the show to study since there are no lyrics in pretty much any of them and I've always found them to be good study/work music. I've listened to all of the soundtracks dozens of times, so I figured I'd put together a collection of my favorite songs so far so I don't have to keep switching videos around. Hope you guys enjoy.

Great book recommendations guys, thanks. Gonna dive into Name of the Wind and Hyperion i think. Both sounded pretty great.

It took me just about a year (around 350 Audible hours actually) to get through Sanderson, so I've kinda lived in that world and kinda sad to leave it. Glad he's pretty prolific so new stuff should be out. But it'll be nice to hear some new voices too.

Obviously, Warrior of Light is the best track. :chuckle: The coupling of the ethereal and mystic with power, ambition and relentlessness. It tells its own story.

Everything in the show is great. Ramin Djawadi is a genius.

My wife and I went down to Columbus to see the live show when it came through. Super awesome experience. If you can go, go.

The nice thing about Sanderson is that you know he'll actually complete his shit in a reasonable amount of time.

So George released an excerpt from Fire and Blood amd there was a line I thought was REALLY cool and yet again points D&D maybe not just making shit up.

Three times Alysanne Targaryen tried to get Silverwing, her dragon, to fly beyond the wall and three times in turned around and wouldnt go.

So maybe Daenerys really does lose a dragon to White Walkers by flying it North of the Wall and that whole thing wasn't just something concocted by D&D.

I always felt that the acquisition of a dragon by the White Walkers was a prerequisite for them to be considered a truly existential threat.

Gotta have air power to counter air power.

Really surprised how little white walker there is in the books at all.

@Jack Brickman

I mentioned Cook's Dread Empire series above. The main protagonist is sort of a proto-Croaker/Logan Ninefingers. More realistic than Ninefingers, and more morally flawed than Croaker, but just a great, great character. Not sure I've ever read a better drawn, more believable fantasy character.

Maybe this belongs in the games forum, but do any of you thrones freaks play the GOT conquest mobile game or are mobile games shunned by true gamers? I literally have no idea since I’ve never owned a single gaming system(I was that kid that would stay up til 4am playing your Nintendo64 at your house) but I’ve wasted a ton of hours on that game this past week and am realizing that if I stick with it, it’s going to be months.

Also, actually related to the books/show, the PrequelSeries is starting to realease casting news and freaking Naomi Watts is set to be one of the leads. Hopefully not in a Sean Bean capacity!

I just started reading the books through for the first time, and Jesus, Catelyn is such a fucking dick to Jon it's unbelievable. I didn't mind her show character much, I thought she was just kind of bland overall, but I absolutely despise her in the books.

Yeah, they really toned down that scene where Jon says goodbye to Bran on the show. In the books she was just awful to him.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of. I'm not that far into the books (I just got to the part where Ned and Cat reunite in Kings Landing), but I was just like, damn. That was brutal.

First difference from the books that I wish would have made the show. Would have given Catelyn an interesting dynamic IMO, and would have been easy to add.

Yeah, I figured that was the scene you were thinking of. It's really the only major interaction between the two in the first book.
