The Paul George Safari: LeBron Strikes Back!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tristan, Shump, and future picks to the Pacers for George and Seraphin. The salaries work.

Sure, the Pacers wouldn't go for this. But my goal would be to bring some rebounding back with losing TT.

Three team deal moving Tristan for someone's mid-firsts?

I don't think anyone will trade for George since he's said he's literally coming to Los Angeles next offseason. Not many teams are in a position to make such a move, and take such a risk..

And with that said, I doubt the Lakers will actually move any assets for him... From their perspective, they won't be contenders with or without Paul George; so if he's coming to L.A., it'll happen regardless of the pitstops in-between.

For the Cavs, I doubt they'll open up with Kevin Love on the table.. for all of the reasons you just said.
If we don't move Love, then forget about it...just about every team in the league can offer a more attractive package than we can minus our "Non Big-3".

Magic and the Lakers will want to secure George so as to not risk losing him to another team...it's the exact same circumstances surrounding our deal for Love 3 years ago (ironic.) Even though Love to Cleveland was all but certain Griffin caved and gave Minny what they wanted so another team didn't swoop in first. That scenario will probably repeat itself here.

I'm going to get real wild here and zig instead of zag and broach a forbidden subject

Would you trade out Kyrie, Shump, Channing, and RJ for Paul George, Eric Bledsoe, and Thad Young

Bledsoe
PG13
LeBron
Love
TT

JR
Korver
Young
Derrick Williams
Sign Darren Collison for the taxpayer MLE

Not saying this is the way to go but its going to be a long, long Safari so let's have some fun

Absolutely not.

Sure, but.. the whole point here is that George has pretty much disincentivized every single team in the NBA (including the Lakers) from trading for him. This is what so many analysts are saying today... It's not a question of value, but.. if you're say .. the Bucks .. why do you trade anything for George?

It's not the same thing though.

The Lakers can sign George outright for the max next offseason; Bobby Marks isn't exactly correct in that they don't need to do any trades, they can just stretch Deng's contract and that's it.

As Windhorst and Shelbourne have said today, there's very very little chance that the Lakers will move any assets for a guy who is telling them he'll be there in a year. There's just no reason to do so.

For the Cavs, we couldn't sign Love when he became a free-agent. It just wasn't a possibility. So we had to trade for him, which is the only reason it cost us Andrew Wiggins.

If we had the cap-space, we wouldn't have made that trade at that time. Instead, we'd have filled that cap-space with role players or another star, and THEN made that trade.. :chuckle:

No, that'd be crazy..

But I would trade the farm for Jimmy if we can can get George for less-than-Love.

I wrote a long set of posts about swapping out a core of Irving/Love for one of George/Butler... Not that I'm eager to trade Kyrie.
