The Paul George Safari: LeBron Strikes Back!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I get it. Like I said, just doing my part to pump this Safari up before the inevitable move over to GenPop.

But I don't know, simplified even more, if you said I could have the next 4 years of Kyrie or Paul George + Bledsoe, I give that some thought.

And none of it is based on a preference for keeping Love over Kryie. I absolutely value Kyrie higher both present day and into the future

edit: It occurs to me now that I've had a strange fascination with mock trading Thad Young to us for about the past three years. I do think his length and ability to score in transition while rebounding at a decent rate has value.

In this scenario, our defense and rebounding would increase as we'd keep Love and TT and add Bledsoe, Young, and George all good defenders and all good rebounders for their position.

I'm going to get real wild here and zig instead of zag and broach a forbidden subject

Would you trade out Kyrie, Shump, Channing, and RJ for Paul George, Eric Bledsoe, and Thad Young

Bledsoe
PG13
LeBron
Love
TT

JR
Korver
Young
Derrick Williams
Sign Darren Collison for the taxpayer MLE

Not saying this is the way to go but its going to be a long, long Safari so let's have some fun

Who is getting Kyrie? To me, either the Pacers or the Suns are getting short-changed.

But, again, not trading for Paul if I don't know he's staying, and considering he just told me today he prefers LA, then no.

Now, if I knew 100% he would stay, then yea, I think you make that trade 100 times out of 100.

I like that we are being agressive. I hope we can secure a deal within a week. The longer this lingers the harder it may be to find common ground.

Teams like SAS or HOU or LAC or even Boston could sniff around this and think that a rental for contention is worth it. Point is Pacers won't accept less than Love. Not when the offer from us is hot garbage. Not to say we don't start with garbage and eventually get to the main course.

The only team on that list that makes sense is the Clippers simply because they could potentially contend, and they're in Los Angeles.

The rest.. no.. doubt they'd get involved, and I doubt they'd be naive enough not to read the writing on the wall.

Round and round the arguments go.

When they will stop, no one knows.

No, that'd be crazy..

But I would trade the farm for Jimmy if we can can get George for less-than-Love.

I wrote a long set of posts about swapping out a core of Irving/Love for one of George/Butler... Not that I'm eager to trade Kyrie.

Gour, I'm in same boat you are. Completely.

This is me personally. I don't think Love for PG13 by itself makes sense. If we trade Love for PG13, then, I'd be on board trading Kyrie for Butler (nothing less would do).

Then, if that all were to happen, it'd make a hell of lot more sense.

I love Kyrie, you know that. I know you do too. But a team with LB, Butler, and George, would make a lot more sense than a team with Irving, PG, and LeBron.

FUCK! I'm trying to watch this show tonight, and can't focus with all this PG madness!

I don't like anything getting in the way of my Twin Peaks. I've even risked royally pissing the girlfriend off because of it.

Yep.. my thoughts exactly.. and we're definitely team Kyrie.

I also don't think the Bulls can turn that down either.. So if we get George.. well...

I'm thinking the same.

The issue is that Love is a much better #3 than George would be next Kyrie. Kyrie's confidence is what makes him so great, but I do fear that he wouldn't take advantage of George. At least Love is a great spot up shooter and can get points off the boards.

If Kyrie elevates his game then it won't matter. I'd take George. Otherwise, I kind of like the idea of loading up with 2 way players in George AND Butler. Not sure it happens though.

How could the Cavs realistically get Paul George, Anthony Davis and Giannis in the same trade?

That would definitely put them over the top and I feel like all teams involved would be willing to make the moves.

It's the only way I'd be on board with the Love and PG trade. I just don't think that trade, in itself, helps us that much against GS.

If we're going to sacrifice the hit we'll take on the boards, we got to become an elite defensive team. We just can't with Irving on the team.

Sure, losing a point guard would suck, but actually, Jimmy Butler is a good playmaker. He's really not that far off from Irving in that department.

I actually like Butler more than PG, personally. I'd only trade Kyrie for him. The realistic options anyway.

Let's see, I'd have PHX get Kyrie and Shump as a defensive SG to play behind offensive dynamo Booker. They are getting the premier player in the deal based on age and contract so they give up the most: Bledsoe to us, Chriss, Warren, and future picks to Indiana.

So it would look like:

CLE: PG13, Bledsoe, Young

PHX: Irving, Shumpert, RJ(retires)

IND: Chriss(8th pick last year), Warren(SF replacement), Frye(expiring), Dudley(mentor), picks

This would go down on draft night contingent on PHX getting Josh Jackson at pick #4

An again, just looking into all angles here. I do not wish to trade Kyrie and doubt it even gets discussed more than 30 seconds in the Cavs war room

Honestly, I'm fine with getting George.. I mean, seriously; if we had Paul George on this team alongside our Big 3, we win the Finals. It's now just a question of cost, and if George will make the same kind of backroom deal Love did to get to Cleveland.
