The Transgender Issue

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The argument that's been made by non-trans is that, without the law, it allows trans people to go into the opposite restroom and do some weird shit or molest people.

That argument, of course, makes no sense because the last thing a trans person (generally speaking) wants to do is draw a ton of attention to him or herself. Pretty sure that's not possible if a tranny walked into the women's restroom and whipped her dick out.
What stops someone, anyone, from identifying as the opposite gender?

Much ado about nothing.

If you have a vag, natural or otherwise, go to the ladies' room.

If you have a dick, go to the men's room.

You might want to identify as a man, but it makes me uncomfortable to take a shit next to a woman. That's how I feel.

Are my feelings less important than those with a mental disorder?

Do your stalls have windows in them?

I just don't really understand how you can accept a gay person being wired to be attracted to a person of the same sex but not accept a person's brain being wired to not be in line with their biological gender.

You're acting like this is a fashion choice for transgender men and women.

Also, nice choice on going with the National Geographic stereotype for African people. :chuckle:

I used that example because it highlights the absurdity of someone saying that their true self is expressed by wearing a particular type of clothing. It seems that it would only be a viable practice if it was convenient.

Sexual desire is something I can define and comprehend. What it means to be a man, is not.

I don't know what makes me a "man" other than the fact that I have a penis. The definition of what it means to be man or a woman varies between cultures.

How would you define manliness?

Therein lies the rub. The other reason the argument fails is because it DOESN'T stop that ridiculous scenario from happening.

I don't understand why straight, non-trans people really care about this. Its silly. What is there to feel uncomfortable about?

No.

If it makes me uncomfortable to shit next to a woman and that's irrational, how is it rational to say that a trans person should be worried about which restroom they use?

If it shouldn't matter to me, why should it matter to them?

You understand that a lot of the issue right now is that a sexual female or male that identifies as the opposite gender without any physical change want to use the restroom of their gender identity, correct?
Correct. I'm saying they should be able to. Is there any evidence as to why they shouldn't? I haven't really looked it up.

lol bro, its everyhwhere.

^^see: first half of this comment.

its just so engrained that you dont recognize it.

What do you think the solution is?

On one end, it seems to be discrimination against the person with the gender identity of the opposite sex. On the other, there are privacy concerns for everyone else.

I thought the way one school district handled it was relatively fair, letting the teen use the private bathroom (not sure if that was the teachers' bathroom or they had a separate bathroom for students). That didn't seem to work for the transgender individual.

Deal with it.

Go in, take a shit, and leave.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not taking my time in public restrooms anyways because they're usually disgusting places.

If a trans person acts lewd in a public bathroom then that's a problem that should be dealt with by the cops, but it's no more lewd than if a person of the "correct" gender was exposing themselves in the bathroom.

People just need to get over themselves.

The woman in this scenario has a beard and, most likely, has a penis.

It matters more to the trans person because now that woman with a beard, who looks like and identifies as a man, is now forced to use the women's restroom because that's what she was born as.

The issue is about someone who hasn't undergone a physical transformation.

A man with a beard and chest hair, who identifies as a woman, should be able to use a ladies' room.

That is the argument at hand.

Again, why should I and my children be forced to "deal with it" and not the .3% of people who are transgender?

Many restrooms have changing rooms/sections. Is there a restriction on transgender people changing in the restroom of their gender identity? I'm assuming no. In which case, I'm curious what people feel about this? If you had a son/daughter, would you be ok if she walked into a restroom with a grown male changing there or vice versa?

EDIT: Beat by Damien on this point.

Absolutely not.

Honestly, how would you explain this to your child?

Furthermore, do you think your daughter would feel comfortable changing in that room?

Trans people should be able to use the restroom of the gender they identify with. Bathroom laws are unenforceable, and real people would be humiliated if they were. I'm not sure why anyone should care about someone else's gender identity...

If someone is doing perverted things in a bathroom, call the police. Simply being there as a transgendered person isn't perverted imo.
I think this is probably the point that it will boil down to. However, as Damien and I just pointed out, there are (possibly rare) situations that might need to be thought about.
