Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Did anyone criticizing his benching watch Zizic play last night? The Sixers attacked him literally every possession. He's slow footed, and was getting dragged out of the paint, which is a terrible combination of factors.

Then on offense, because he's not as familiar with the team as, say, TT, he was completely clogging the lane.

I really like Zizic. But he did not deserve one more minute last night. Hopefully he keeps getting these short spurts throughout the season so he can improve, but I have not seen anything warranting more playing time.

Screw that you know that it's only because Lue doesn't want to win all 82 games just because he doesn't like to play rookies and doesn't have David Blatt's ability to fly fighter jets

I think you got it right on Zizic, I feel the same way now. He's shown almost nothing that we'd want to see more of. Making myself sick thinking Boston knew what we were getting in him and Crowder. Man if IT comes back and isn't the player we hope for that'll be a real situation for us. That can't happen though right?

So it’s the rest of the team that needs to adapt to him? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
This is why we are so good at developing players.

It’s not about adjusting to him, but play him (until he adapts) in right situations.

He was awful in those minutes. Don't see him getting any meaningful time this year.

I don't fault Lue. We're seeing Cedi get more and more run as he continues to show ability out there.

I was reacting to buzzdog saying that the team doesn't know how to deal with his style. Which I thought was preposterous, to be honest. I would also propose not turning Mr Zizic's trajectory, less than two months into his rookie season, into an indictment of the Cavs' player-development abilities.

I would venture to say, though, that it's a lot more of a nuanced picture than what's suggested by your flippant comment -- which indeed appears to be a popular position on this board.

Zizic is a guy who needs to get used to the speed and pace of the NBA. This is just his first time in an NBA environment.

Really is a solid prospect. Probably would have gone in the mid teens in this past draft.

Unfortunately at the position he plays the NBA asks a lot of those guys and their mistakes are magnified so it’s tough to play him on a team like we have. But after a full year and offseason in an NBA training program...hes really going to be a force in the paint.

He may end up being used as a trade asset but I would hate to see him go to another team and be a legit rotation 5 about 2 years from now while we struggle to find the next minimum player who won’t completely suck at the 5.

I think Altman wants to keep him though. Altman’s self-preferred “specialty” is international scouting more than anything. And he’s good at it . I’d bet good money that Doncic is #1 on his board even. Though it’d take a lot of luck to get the #1 at this point.

Perhaps he needs to go the D league for a stint...

He is still young 20 yrs old and very raw... When I watch him he just seems too eager to make something happen in offense... he has good potential though as a rotational big... he has decent speed and strenght for a 7 footer, hopefully he just focuses on setting screens and playing defense when he gets his minutes... Hope thr Cavs keep him and let him develop...

Trust me I've been on the "Lue doesn't play rookies" bandwagon for awhile now and got berated in another thread for it... but, Zizic hasn't really did anything that's proves he deserves minutes. I'm not giving up on the kid, he's young and obviously raw. But when we received him did we really expect anything more than a tradeable asset to pair with the Brooklyn pick? I didn't - at least not for 3-4 years anyway.

He would receive more playing time on a tanking bad team, because there is some potential in him. But here he's just clearly not ready to play minutes for a team competing for a championship. Not yet. And probably wont be for a few years in which he'll be long gone by then.

He will improve slowly as most bigs do... He kinda plays with a mean streak which is good, not sure of his work ethic that would be the deciding factor whether he sticks in league or not...

He projected well from the Adriatic League. You need to see how he does next year tbh. This isn't the year for him to be anything valuable
