Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was reacting to buzzdog saying that the team doesn't know how to deal with his style. Which I thought was preposterous, to be honest. I would also propose not turning Mr Zizic's trajectory, less than two months into his rookie season, into an indictment of the Cavs' player-development abilities.

I would venture to say, though, that it's a lot more of a nuanced picture than what's suggested by your flippant comment -- which indeed appears to be a popular position on this board.
That's not quite what I said or meant. Without going back to look I said they didn't mesh. Ante is the closest thing to a true center on the roster. Nobody knows how to play with a true center because they haven't had one for awhile. Zizec looks a little like a fish out of water.

They need to practice some sets with Zizec just in case they need to put him in there once in awhile. I suppose with TT coming back we won't need him but I'd like to see them at least have some options with him on the floor. The other night it looked like nobody had a clue how to play with him, nor him with them.

I think Lue said specifically that he had not practiced with that group before and the 2nd unit runs different stuff.

To be fair to Ante, the first unit was not playing defense in that quarter and he had no secondary help at all. They were not even using his screens properly.

Because we have entire seasons where TT has played well with this team?

This is true. The whole first unit was sandbagging and playing lazy as hell when AZ was in. Not his fault.

That probably wouldn't be the worst thing for him.
Well people in here need to remember(why do I need to remind anyone??) big men need more time to develop now than ever before.
We've seen it too many times...big man gets discarded from one team , goes to another ,is allowed to grow, and becomes a nice piece to work with.
We have gotten rid of a lot of young centers(some were garbage) but some others would have helped even this team with their skill set.

the beauty is this guy is what, 21 ? No dire need to play him this year but I would try to get him in as many blow-outs or end of quarter situations to give someone and extra 1-2 mins of rest as possible

No one in his right mind can convince me that this guy can not help us at all. He is a better player than TT on both ends of the floor given playing time.

He has terrific touch around the rim and can actually take advantage of smaller guys against a switch. On D, he can stick with ball handlers on the perimeter while also being able to contest the shot(Unlike TT). He can defend the rim better than anyone on the roster.

We have tried taking "advantage" of mismatches because teams and GSW in particular switch a lot against us, but we have given the ball to the wrong players in TT and Jae in the post. Zizic is the perfect player to bang down low because he can actually finish strong and pass out of a double team.

Yes, he looks like a plodding big, but he really isn't. Play the man.
