I kind of feel the same in terms of not buying the hype, but I think it’s because cameras can’t accurate capture it compared to what you actually see with your eyes. There’s also that anticipation factor and eerie feeling that occurs that you aren’t going to get from watching it on TV.

Definitely would recommend people checking it out in the future if they have the chance. Will hopefully get to see another one.

Yea, it's hard to describe. It looks like photos and videos you've seen, but seeing it in person with the naked eye is basically indescribable. Almost felt like looking into a black hole of sorts. It also felt like it was a lot closer....or something.

in a trance reading about Bushwick bills dog and not much makes sense right now, but that was so impressive I'm naming my first born solar eclipse

Next one that will be easy to see is 21 years out...

A total solar eclipse won't be visible again from the contiguous US until August 22, 2044, but totality will only occur over North Dakota and Montana, plus northern Canada. However, the next total solar eclipse with a coast-to-coast path spanning the Lower 48 states will occur on August 12, 2045.

A total solar eclipse will be visible in Greenland, Iceland, Spain, Russia, and a small area of Portugal, while a partial eclipse will be visible in Europe, Africa, North America, the Atlantic Ocean, Arctic Ocean, and Pacific Ocean on August 12 2026.

Yeah, it’s that way because we have photoreceptors in our eyes that a camera is unable to capture or reproduce.

Since a longer exposure is required to capture the eclipse due to low light, you wind up losing detail that can be seen with the naked eye.

2026: 27 minutes in Greenland. Good Euro punk band name.

Both the August 2026 and August 2027 total solar eclipses will transit parts of Spain. 2028 in Australia will be over an hour long and will go directly over Sydney.

Was about 30 minutes north of Columbus and got to see totality without glasses for a bit over a minute...pretty incredible

Definitely a super cool experience. Was really neat being able to look at the moon with the bright glowing ring around it. Was in a pretty open area, and was able to see the shadow/darkness approaching from the west.

My brother in law (and his family) got hooked on seeing eclipses when I got married during the 2017 one. So he ended up in Oklahoma (was supposed to be Texas, but didn't trust the weather).

Not sure how many hundreds of dollars of equipment was needed to take these, but worth sharing

I can’t see any of these pictures.

Pictures don’t do it justice. I was not sure what all the fuss was about going in…but wow…most incredible thing I have ever seen.

More incredible is that the weather was perfect

Had a backyard party for a bunch of friends and family and @2 For The Brew even drove out from Philly to see it. Did the whole eclipse-themed playlist, etc.. Pretty fair to say the eclipse delivered in a big way with everyone. I had been thinking "only 3-4 minutes, no big deal", but the whole build-up from when moment the moon first appeared was awesome.

Way, way cooler than I thought it would be.
