My daughter and I went out kayaking with some friends on the Cuyahoga River around Valley View. We pulled off and watched the eclipse in total peace and isolation.

It was amazing. The color of the glow around the sun was so cool looking. I can't even describe the color of it. It was like the shimmer from a pearl or something. And it was shimmering.

As a 50 year old, this was a memorable day for me and something that will stand out as an event that I will never forget.

Had a backyard party for a bunch of friends and family and @2 For The Brew even drove out from Philly to see it. Did the whole eclipse-themed playlist, etc.. Pretty fair to say the eclipse delivered in a big way with everyone. I had been thinking "only 3-4 minutes, no big deal", but the whole build-up from when moment the moon first appeared was awesome.

Way, way cooler than I thought it would be.

Always wanted to see a total eclipse; I saw an annular eclipse from a restaurant on Rockside Road decades ago but this was far better. Drive back was a bitch though — every road east was packed. Well worth it.

The moments right before totality were amazing. Sliver of yellow light disappears and it’s like you’re on another planet. Although TBH I think we changed planets some time ago but can’t pinpoint when. Too many aliens roaming the planet to think otherwise.

Yeah it was magical. It was one of the best things I have seen in my life. Totality and 99% are very very different. It was well worth it

My brother in law (and his family) got hooked on seeing eclipses when I got married during the 2017 one. So he ended up in Oklahoma (was supposed to be Texas, but didn't trust the weather).

Not sure how many hundreds of dollars of equipment was needed to take these, but worth sharing

I didn't really think about taking a picture of the eclipse it was happening. Apparently you need a 15 or 20 stop ND filter to not cause damage to you camera. I tried to take a picture with my 10 stop ND filter without a tripod and my hand wasn't steady enough so I have a picture with multiple rings.

My ND filter only fit my wide lense and I didn't even attempt it to use the viewfinder since it's a mirror. The lcd screen should be alot safer.

It's would probably cost $100 in ND filters which you could stack on top of each other so you can have other uses for them.

If I were to travel for it in the future. I would buy the ND filters and take a camera I would be willing to mess up. Then just set it up on a tripod to take pictures. Maybe buy a used cheap camera to take a time lapse of the whole thing but I think that would have a good chance of ruining it after.
