Trade Deadline - Feb 8 at 3:00 EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He’s very available. If Dan were willing to take the monetary risk I bet we could get him cheap. It’d be something I would strongly consider personally.

I feel for Batum....he's being asked to play a role he just isn't built for. I see a lot of Hornets game based on my location.

They ask Batum to run their second unit when Kemba goes off court, and it's just a shit-show as they ask him to be the facilitator and ultra-aggressive offensively. Batum is clearly a high-end role player who should be asked to exploit defenses in a "3rd option" capacity. But when Charlotte paid him all that $$$ I think they felt they needed to elevate him to something he isn't.

I agree, he'd be a really good fit in an offense where he doesn't have to be "the guy". His efficiency would sky-rocket and he'd become more of the player he was in Portland vs. the last two years in Charlotte. Less usage would probably help his health a lot too.

As you said, he could easily be had, but Dan would have to go nuclear into the tax to take him on, which probably isn't likely.

What would take us to get it done realistically, i am hoping not to part with picks.

Basically nothing. Batum is awful this year and horribly overpaid. JR Smith + Frye should do it? Probably would even be able to do Smith + Shumpert, their contarcts are both over after next year, and the contracts are much better than Batum's.

It's sort of a trade that makes sense for both teams. Seems like both Smith and Batum need a change of scenery.

I will say one thing about Dwight Howard - team chemistry issues aside - I don't think DeAndre Jordan is a "Brooklyn 1st" better than Dwight Howard. I'd rather have Howard and save a hugely valuable pick for another opportunity.

I’m not trying to pour water all over your Dwight scenario....but it just won’t happen. Beyond the bad history with LeBron and Wade, which granted, is many years ago, there are just too many additional issues to bringing him to CLE.

Houston, LA, and ATL were all astonished at how little he actually cared about winning games....it means nothing to him. The guy could’ve been an all-time great, but his greatest achievement outside of making a Finals, is finally giving up candy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

He’s a big, goofball kid, who is just cashing paychecks. Yeah, he’s a better player than TT, but he’s not a guy you want to bring into a locker room when chasing a championship.

I agree - more than anything though, he makes me question the "Brooklyn 1st" for DeAndre Jordan scenario.

Thing is, I like him as a facilitator. Not enough to run a 2nd unit, but enough to get guys easier looks and add more flow to our offense. Also the more guys we have who can take the ball out of Bron's hands and force him to play off ball, then the BETTER!!!

Bron's been a turnover machine against Golden State. They simply have too many athletic guys who can move their feet and stay in front of him when he puts the ball on the floor. I loved seeing that pick n roll action with IT and James but it will be too few and far between because it's not who IT is. He always thinks score first.

Id part with our first for Bazemore and try to get Dedmon in the deal too...maybe throwing in that Heat second or even Zizic.

Bazemore is a really good defensive 2 guard who can also guard 1s and 3s well and can hit threes. He’s probably a bit overpaid but hes good, young, and plays hard. If we inserted Bazemore into JRs spot from day 1 I bet we would be at least 30-13 if not better.

As for Dwight...no we have enough locker room issues as it is without him whining about getting inefficient post touches.

Only guy on Charlotte I’d really want is Batum because Kemba would cost too much. Batum could probably be had for Shump+Frye, and then I’d trade TT for the best C I can find. Would be a huge hit to Dans wallet but it’s one way to potentially add a high level player for cheap if Batum can start playing well.
YOU all ticket-punched and boarded on the 'trade JR and TT' train?!

Yeah, though I’d rather trade Shump and keep JR but put him on the bench. Just because he has been a big playoff performer for us even last year after a bad regular season and I think there is at least a chance he can improve if things turn around for the team.

Plus his contract will be a very nice trade piece starting this summer, if a team looking to trade a star for the Brooklyn pick decides they only want expiring money. JR only has 3.7 million guaranteed dollars for the 2019-2020 season and his contract is bigger than Shumps and wouldn’t need as much additional salary filler if we go after a guy making 20+ million.

I want TT out here as much as the next person, but I just don't see what Favors brings to the table more than TT does. They both have underachieved greatly in their careers thus far, and Favors has never been a very good defender. His defensive numbers are even average at best, and he has played the last 6 years on arguably one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Then you add in the fact he has had a chance to be the man for their big rotation with Gobert out so long, and he just hasn't been playing very well. Not to mention he is one of those players that always seems to be injured.

If we were to go for some middle of the road big to replace TT, then I would rather go after someone like Mirotic or at least someone that can remove Love from playing the 5. Their defensive numbers aren't that different, which given the Bulls the past few years, means he is probably a better defender then his numbers say. He can stretch the floor more, and they are pretty much equal in terms of rebounding. For Favors size, he sure has been weak on the glass. 6.9 boards in 28+ minutes per night, on a team without Gobert for most of the season. That is weak.
