Trade Discussions - Pistons/Wolves/Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Chris Broussard Reporting

I think I might just rather keep #4 and the trade exception rather than give up both for the #2.

You make this deal if you don't think you'll be able to find another deal for the TPE and if you're really high on Derrick Williams.

Still see Williams as a PF which means Cavs might end up having to trade Hickson.

Re: Chris Broussard Reporting

Yeah I'm sorry, but I'm not buying Broussard until someone else (and I mean someone who isn't just retweeting him) confirms it. This was the same guy who was saying all summer that he had inside info that #6 was going to Chicago (Even on the day of The Decision). I'll play it by ear, but I don't see it happening.

And I definitely don't see us being that excited about Williams that we would give up Irving-Kanter/Jonas-Burks/Singleton so we could get Irving-Williams. It would be cool, but I think 4+8 for 2 would be some ridiculous overpaying. Maybe 4+32.

Re: Chris Broussard Reporting

Doubt Detroit does this but it would be awesome if it went down. As I've stated Irving and Williams are match made in heaven in terms of skillsets.

Chance of the #8 pick developing into a productive NBA player are unfortunately not that great.

get it done!

I would rather throw in sessions

Re: Chris Broussard Reporting

I for whatever reason doubt our TPE being used in a much better fashion. On top of that, I don't see 4+8 being overpaying that much because of the fact that Irving + Williams would be such an incredible duo to pull out of this draft. They're easily on a level far above the rest of the prospects, IMO. If this is possible, I say it should be done.

Re: Chris Broussard Reporting

#8 history:
Aminu
Jordan Hill
Joe Alexander
Brandan Wright
Rudy Gay
Channing Frye
Aruajo
TJ Ford
Wilcox
Diop

LOL based on previous history I kind of understand now why Detroit might dump that pick. Would definitely not keep the 4/8: you do this to move up to 2.
Irving/Williams: Chris Paul/D. West 2.0. You get your creator and finisher together in the same draft

Re: Chris Broussard Reporting

If the Cavs are high on DWilliams and would make a trade to get the 2 pick, then it's obvious to me Williams has convinced them he can/could play the 3. I highly doubt the Cavs would consider making this move unless they really feel he can be a 3.

Anyway; take anything Broussard says as a wait and see if there is real proof.

DWill would be the perfect SF in our system. Strong fuckin' front-court. DWill, Hickson, Varejao. Irving and Eyenga in the back-court. Damn would this be exciting!

Still don't understand why we prohibit dwill from becoming an ideal princeton pf just because we have hickson on the roster.

Re: Chris Broussard Reporting

The thing that doesn't make sense to this for me is that Minnesota is on record as wanting more veterans and fewer rookies. This gives them two rookies instead of one. I suppose it could make sense if Minnesota is just looking to trade a pick or picks for some veteran help. But adding two top 8 draft picks to the T-Wolves roster doesn't align with the direction their GM says he wants to go. OTOH, I have no doubt that we'll be pulling out whatever stops we can to get up to 2 to add both Irving and Williams in this draft. Would be pretty cool, IMO, this is a two player draft and Irving and Williams are the two players.

David Kahn doesn't know what he wants from minute to minute. Why would this, or anything else surprise you?

Re: Chris Broussard Reporting

I love the talks but seriously... 4 & 8 to move up to 2? If D-Will can play the 3 and they are sure of it... fine I guess but otherwise it just adds to our log jam.

Also, if we really want to move up to two why couldn't we just use a 2nd rounder and maybe one of Miami's firsts? This just seems like a lot and D-Will could be there at 4 depending how people see Kanter.

And if we picked up 8, didn't trade it, took Kanter / Williams at 4 (I feel one of the two will be there at 4) and then add a SF (Singleton?) or SG (Burkes?) at 8. Take whatever we didn't take at 8 (SF/SG) in the second; that's an insane youth infusion. Not that I believe everyone will work out perfectly but it would make watching games so much more interesting seeing probably 4 new, young guys getting solid minutes.

Re: Chris Broussard Reporting

I'd be surprised if Det did this now. There's definitely going to be some sort of amnesty clause, similar to the one after the last strike.

If we did acquire the 8th, I think I'd prefer using the 1st and 4th then spinning off the 8th for someone's 2012. But, that's me...
