30 year old wing? Might as well keep Andy.
First note that I am only in favor of this deal if we trade for Gasol. I love Andy, but if we have Gasol then he's an injury-prone bench big man who's taking away development time from Bennett and Zeller. It would make a lot of sense to trade him for a starting caliber SF in that situation.
As for Sefolosha, he's 29, right in the middle of his prime, and one of the best wing defenders in the league. He would be an excellent fit for us at SF.
Why doesn't OKC want to retain Sefolosha?
Why doesn't OKC want to retain Sefolosha? I assume the dip in his shooting percentages? He's been solid for them for years, and they are weaker with Westbrook hurt.
I agree that one of the benefits of trading for Gasol would be having more flexibility in terms of trading a different PF/C to find a SF.
The Thunder have to be careful with their payroll the next few years to avoid paying the luxury tax and while they like Sefolosha, there is a chance he won't be re-signed if his contract demands are too high. Sefolosha is a top-notch defender, however he is not as skilled on offense like Lamb, which is why GM Sam Presti has a difficult decision to make once free agency starts in July.
There is a chance Presti won't wait until July and he might make Sefolosha available for a trade for a potential deal to get done by the Feb. 20 deadline.
I wonder if we can get Richard Jefferson off the Jazz? Spot up shooter can play small forward. He could knock Clark out of the rotation moving Deng to some power forward duties.
I wonder if we can get mike miller off the grizzlies? Spot up shooter can play small forward. He could knock Clark out of the rotation moving Deng to some power forward duties.
i know he sucks this season when theyre asking him to be the man...but if we cant resign deng, id look into making hayward an offer. kid is a decent shooter when he's not asked to be the man. i think he'd play well w kyrie and dion.
