Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tristan should be tradeable once he gets his stats against the creampuff Eastern Conference.

Even though he's not working hard in the off-season, him getting starter's minutes should burn off enough belly fat for him to average ten rebounds a game in the East.

I don't mind TT starting, but his minutes should be reduced so he can go all out better and Zizic should be getting minutes for sure.

Absolutely perfect...Jordan and Beverley..

Nothing like having Eric Snow and Ben Wallace as 40% of your offensive system on the other side of the floor for a significant portion of the game!!

You put Beverly and Jordan on the Cavs and throw them in with some combination of LeBron, Crowder, JR, IT, Love and instead of losing the games 129-116 we'll lose 109-93

I will never understand the dislike Cavs fans have for Tristan Thompson.

My issues are pretty simple. I'd like a center who can at least be a threat to win an occasional jump ball or block an occasional shot. That, and one who opposing teams have to guard out to at least 15 feet.

TT loses jump balls to forwards, forget about against centers. He can't outjump Draymond Green. He is close to being no threat as a shot blocker.

In return we get a guy who doesn't miss games and who grabs offensive boards as long as other teams don't game plan to stop him. If the other team tries they can shut him down on the glass too, as the Warriors proved.

Tristan Thompson started every game of a playoff run that netted the Cavs a Championship trophy.
Tristan Thompson played 114 minutes in the final 3 games of the 3-1 comeback against Golden State.
Tristan Thompson Dominated Center after center in the EC playoffs.

Did he have a bad Finals? Absolutely.
However a significant factor was Lue getting outcoached and not making any adjustment to GS Scheme . instead choosing to give GS what they wanted... Tristan Thompson off the floor.

Tristan Thompson was considered a Threat by Golden State. This cannot be refuted. GS Defensive star , The center Platoon and Steve Kerr are all on record about how they went after Thompson and tot hem that was a key component to winning the series.

Some of you may be really happy to see Tristan gone but the happiest people to see Tristan gone would be Golden State because by the End of the Series Tristan and the coaching staff began adapting to the Golden State scheme.

What was inexcusable was that the Cavs allowed this GS scheme of blocking/holding out and using their guards to rebound.

Cavs need to work on Love and Thompson playing in tandem more effectively.

Lebron needs to allow the guys to play a defense that doesn't rely on the team waiting for Lebron toto try and predict what play the opposing offense is running as GS exploited that tendency by disguising their plays.

Lue can talk about running the offense through Love on the elbow all he wants but it isn't happening until Lebron buys in

Cavs were 30-8 when Thompson had double digit rebounding 16-3 when Thompson produced a Double Double.

Thompson also had a total of 6 Free Throws for the entire Finals.

There are a lot of things that went wrong for Thompson in the Finals but there are plenty of things that happened in that series that can be improved upon and well within Thompsons abilities to do so.

Good read @Tornicade.

On Lebron letting others have more defensive freedom: I don't think our guys last season had the awareness to make defensive reads. A lot of last year's personnel couldnt focus on man and ball which was always going to be a recipe for disaster against GS. I think the additions this season should help with that

Let's not completely absolve Thompson though. In the PnR they would trap the ball handler and essentially dare him to produce as the roll man. It was bad. Sometimes all he had to do was take a single dribble to the basket

On defense he doesn't know how to play as the last line. He takes ages gathering his jump on block attempts. How has no one told him that it's better to just go vertical to contest the shot? Don't we have coaches that can explain the difference?

I don't want to see him gone but I personally don't think he and Love are a great frontcourt pair. If we can upgrade TT then we should do so. 18mil is too much for a guy that GS may have figured out

It really is a pity that he's only 6 foot 9. Regardless of his contract (and relationship with a Kardashian), he still has a high motor and a nose for the ball. You can't teach that any more than you can teach 7 feet tall.

The skill set is perfect off the bench. And I think he's a better combo with Frye than with Love (ironically, he was forced to play besides Love because of their skillsets) because of how tall Frye is. It would be nice if Zizic could develop as a legitimate starting center, but I won't hold my breath.

I know a lot of you guys are hard on him, but he has a chance to contribute to another championship. He's not the biggest reason for last season's disappointment (though 18 million dollars says otherwise), and hardly the reason we fall short this year.

He's frustrating at times, but the man is a beast. Big part in our 2015-2016 run and championship. Iron man too.

Tristan Thompson's value is understood by anyone who knows and understands basketball beyond reading a box score's prospective.

Besides his elite offensive rebounding ability, a skill elite enough Golden State's game plan concentrated not on Lebron James, but Tristan Thompson btw, Thompson's ability to switch on isolation, pick n roll etc is also elite for a big man.

It gives a defense so much more flexibility with having a BIG defender who shares that same flexibility. It's hard to understand for many, I know, but there is much more that goes into a basketball player's value to a team other than PPG, RB, and assists per game.

He needs to find that motor again
Last year he was noticeably less passionate on the court and he needs to play 100% energy the whole time to be the impact player we are paying him to be. Maybe without Irving he gets a little wake up call
