Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can anyone answer this....WHY IS HE PLAYING SO FUCKING MUCH?

Because Ty Lue has a "bond" with him:

Lue said there is a "great bond" among those who have been together through each of these previous three Finals battles.

"I think we've done a good job of building a great culture here in Cleveland," Lue said. "(Owner) Dan Gilbert does what it takes to win a championship, try to win a championship. We've done some good things. Just having these guys here who has been through it, been through the tough times, been through the great times as well.

"This is a bond that can't be broken."

Instead of saying 'this guy fucks' on this thread lets just continuously say this.

This guy sucks.

Honest question, what has he worked on or improved in his game since entering the league? Pretty much every good skill he’s had has remained static across his career (or gotten worse) and he never developed a jump shot, became a good defender, learned how to distribute, etc.

I'm not saying Tristan is an all star or anything, but he lead the team in assists and rebounds last night-- Sure, he shot like crap, but he also came close to getting as many offensive rebounds as missed shots. It ain't the pretty game, and it seems like wasted chances, but it does sort of come out a "break even" as far as winning goes. That's a least a glimmer of talent on a team that has not been getting close to "break even" lately.

I guess my point is he’s always been an elite offensive rebounder. But what else has he worked on? If he works on rebounding, it’s gonna hit a point of diminishing returns as compared to shooting jumpers or working on post moves or something. I’m not saying he’s trash, just that I don’t see the all around improvement that is typical in players as they progress throughout their careers. (Also his team leading 4 assists probably says more about the rest of the team than him.)

TT may be the most questionable player since he was drafted.
I saw him on occasion have some good scoring nights then.
It seemed like all he needed to do was work on some post moves, develop a 10ft jumper and a jump hook.
The year the Cavs won it he was a beast in the playoffs .
Since then he's sputtered big time.

The league has changed drastically even since he was drafted. He was a relic when he began, but he just doesn't get off the floor fast enough in the NBA. He was one of the bets shot blockers in college, it's crazy.

Delly and Kyrie really built up the playbook for TT. LeBron was able to replicate what those two were able to do for TT. No one else has been able to get consistent offense from TT though.

I don't think TT has the same lift and exposiveness as before. The lob passes and high handoffs don't seem to be as effective anymore. It not all on TT though, our guards don't seem to have the complement shot to keep defense guessing on what play they are running. Dellys push shot and high hand off could be executed from the same motion and position on the floor.

I'm not sure it's worth giving playing time to TT to build up chemistry and plays with Cedi and Sexton because I think it would be better spent with Nance and Zizic. It took a multiple seasons for Kyrie and Delly to build that chemistry.

When he got his big contract, it was pretty clear the league had shifted away from players like TT. I didn't understand why we didn't try to find a cheap replacement especially since we needed another big anyways.

There are only a handful of teams that I think he could be effective with today. Im just not sure he has any trade valve because a team needing his skill set could pick up someone like Thomas Robinson for mininium and get similar production.

This isn't 2004 and if you can't space the floor at all (literally at all) youre probably a liability no matter what else you do.

Even Rudy Gobert can make a shot outside the paint.

But we gotta stop looking at rebounding stats and thinking "hey, it works out."

Not anymore. Learn how to shoot or get benched.

Maybe we could trade him to Boston so he can't shut down Horford anymore.

It would be fantastic if this guy could do his sucking quietly. This guy is the furthest thing you could get from a leader and he's just salty his talent/skills couldn't cash the checks he wrote with his mouth calling the Cavs the team in the east and is blaming everybody but himself for it.
