Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's still early, but here's the players with 100 minutes or more. Some fans might be sick of the Vets, but the healthy vets not named Korver are rising to the top.

Code:
Player Minutes PER WS/48 BPM
Larry Nance 153 19.0 0.106 1.7
Tristan Thompson 276 16.3 0.064 -0.5
J.R. Smith 98 14.7 0.082 -0.7
George Hill 265 16.7 0.097 -0.8
Sam Dekker 169 14.1 0.074 -1.2
Jordan Clarkson 227 19.4 0.073 -3.2
Rodney Hood 276 13.1 0.048 -3.8
Kevin Love 136 15.6 0.026 -4.8
Kyle Korver 127 9.1 0.000 -5.4
Cedi Osman 331 7.8 -0.077 -5.7
Collin Sexton 230 10.3 -0.028 -7.1

p.s. Clarkson does well in PER because PER loves chuckers.

Zizic would be at the top if he played.

Cedi has been bad. Yes.

On this team in particular, he is a terrible fit because we need more scoring and rim protection than he provides. He may be a better fit on a different team that has more scorers, and better perimeter defense.

Exactly. He is a player that is happy winning and putting up rebounding stats. He only needs a couple lobs to keep him happy in the scoring department. We have seen that taking away the winning and he is as dysfunctional as JR, if not more. He is a player you put around a team full of scorers and need the extra possessions he is willing to give up to other players.

I never saw much a difference between him and the Thomas Robinson type or the many non stretch PFs of the world that washed out of the league in the last couple years. TT was just willing to focus on rebounding and was on a team that allowed/asked him to be that player.

Zizic would be at the top if he played.

Zizic has a great PER and WS/48, but he's in the middle of the pack for +/- and over 1/2 of his meager 48 minutes have been garbage minutes, so his sample size is pretty much 0. Maybe he can get some minutes with Dekker out.

Still, it's becoming clear that out of the talent available on this team, Nance and Thompson are earning their minutes, but if they are on the floor together, they need to be paired with shooting, not Clarkson or Sexton.

I'm all for playing TT & JR and hoping they excel and look great. The better they play, the more trade options that should be available. Will not use the word tank...but wins will be few and far between this year. Hoping that a handful of teams come knocking at our door prior to the trade deadline. This may work out better than we thought. Also, rather have Love hurt at the start of the season than at the all star break like the past 2 yrs. He is also a trade option.

+- is meaningless in that case. His PER would be even higher if he played in the normal rotation guaranteed. Sample size is not 0 because the PER is in the 20's just like last year. What I learned over the years is that PER is a stable stat.

Putting that statistics aside, I guarantee you that our offense especially(even defensively, as Zizic would give us better rim protection and as a result allow us to run more in transition) would remarkably improve if you swapped TT with Zizic.

Really man, i'm watching the games and it's clear as day that TT just destroysour offense. I don't care that he ranks highly on a shitty team right now.

I think JR has the chance to be traded, his 3 pt shooting and contract can help a team in both the short and long term. I just can't see how a team is willing to take on TT unless we take on a equally bad or worse contract. Barring a careering ending injury to similar player on a similar contract, I don't see us getting an asset for him. That's the reason I don't like prioritizing his playing him over Zizic or Nance.

I'd love to move him for Biyombo -- who also is overpaid -- and maybe a second. Virtually identical contracts, and a fresh start.

I agree that's seems like one of the very few options that might be out there to trade him. It would be alot easier to sit Biyombo or give him limited minutes since there is no past history with the organization. I think a good GM would make that deal just so the organization can move on.

Did he not just have a solid effort against Orlando? lets trade him before anyone notices it was an anomaly.

I agree that TT destroys the offense when there’s not enough shooting on the floor and there isn’t a sure footed play maker. He’s not a guy who can create his own shot outside of oreb put backs

Pair him with a workman like PG and a floor spacing 4 and he can do some damage on the pick and roll.

However the Cavs are sort of like the opposite of that right now.

Why do you think TT can do damage in the PnR more than your average C? He is no lob target anymore.

Even if he does, Zizic can do far greater damage.

There is not a possiblity that I ain't right about Zizic. Take that to the bank...when will you guys listen to me? :chuckle:

The fact that he has been warming the bench for more than a year is unforgivable, and I don't give a shit that he is under contract for a long time.

I would do Tristan for Bismack all day, especially if it came with a 2nd round pick. Change of scenery could ignite him, Bismack would look much better on a shitty tanking team like ourselves.

Another thing I'd do? Sexton for Charlotte's unprotected 1st. It'll never happen, but it actually makes sense. Charlotte had plenty of interest in Sexton going into the draft, and they'd have their 1-2-3 of the future solidified going forward (Sexton-Monk-Bridges). Again, it'll never happen, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for Charlotte to find their PG of the future to learn from Kemba and hope to get out of NBA purgatory.
