Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've been watching old Clippers tape recently, and even 14-15 Cavs tape recently.

It is reported that Lue was responsible for the defensive scheming for this teams, last year, it seemed like Lue eventually took back the defense after a lot of failure by Mike Longabardi's scheme.

Our scheme looks NOTHING like those teams ran. Personnel aside, there are major, defensive prinicple-type of things, that right now, we seem to be doing completely differently than anything Lue has ever coached in the past.

This leads me to believe that we are running Longabardi's stuff, even if it's a simplified version.

It is bad. I don't like it. It relies on a lot of personnel we don't have.

Lue's stuff is much simpler, easier to understand and execute. It may not have as much potential, but that potential only gets reached with super-elite defensive anchor-type guys.

Lue is the head coach. It is his responsibility to take over the defense and improve it. Maybe he knows he has to, but is waiting until the playoffs? I don't know. That's a mighty dangerous thing to not have ANY continuity in going forward, even if we ran it last post-season to relative success. If this is the case, I would like to see the "takeover" occur starting like, now.
Lues infatuation with longbardis defense is baffling. It just simply does not work with this team. Give it up.

Let's hope last night's game is an indication of how shit the defensive system and lack of accountability is. Because it's SHIT.

People need to stop blaming Longbardi. When the previous coach was underperforming, no one was blaming Lue or the other assistants.
Lue needs to step up and that's it. I can't stand his lack of involvement on the sidelines. His overwhelmed physics class room expression is starting to get on my nerves a bit.
His game management is abysmal. He just doesn't help his players from the sidelines, he doesn't call any plays, our set offense is nonexistant and the lack of defense screams lack of practice more than anything.
Cavs are getting by purely by huge amount of individual talent.

I don't really care though, It's fun not to care... It's way harder to complain and care so whatever happens till the playoffs is not going to faze me anymore.

Interesting potential tidbit...I heard a rumor that Lue is really struggling with his health(Vertigo) right now.(Wonder how bad it really is.... That'd be more of a @Ben question)

Wonder how much that's affecting things overall.

See, we can all talk about the defensive scheme and all but the major issue is the effort on that end. Its about toughness and showing some self-respect to not get torched by every fucking player.

When Lue Announced hiring longabardi last season. Lue said he would be taking over the defense in the playoffs. it was planned before the hiring and not a knee jerk reaction.

We did see the Cavs play with effort and intensity just last week followed by more injuries and resting.

There is 12 games left in the regular season. Cavs have no shot at home court if they play GS or San Antonio in the finals and they are two games behind Houston.

with the 6-8 seeds in flux its hard to get a gauge on the first round matchup for the Cavs

our starting lineup has a total of 19 games on the court together and our bench after Frye and Shumpert has less than 30 games played with the team.

It was though.. Before the trades , fans were unsatisfied with the defense.

The Cavs were a much better defensive team (especially in the regular season) from the point of acquiring Moz/JR/Shump until Blatt's firing than they have been since Blatt's firing.

They were a defensive juggernaut in their first playoff run.

That's what I was saying.. I just don't understand the logic here though. The defense under Blatt was elite, when we were lacking an elite offensive output without Kyrie and Love, Cavs found ways to tighten up the defense even more.
At the time it was told by the media outlets that Lue was in charge of the defense.. so why has it been tending down ever since he left and why is Longbardi now the scapegoat for our defensive shortcomings if the Cavs had such an elite defense under Lue?

Okay, they tried Longbardi's defensive scheme and it didn't work, they scrapped that and the defense is even worse so what's up with that?

The core of this team up until the 7th man has been together for more than 2 years... there is no excuse as to why they look so disjointed, uncoordinated and confused on defense.
At times it really looks like they don't practice at all. Was it the case with Blatt aswell?

I think they definitely practice less under Lue. I get the sense that Lue has the exact same feeling toward the regular season as the players. That's probably not what we as fans want out of the coach, but it remains to be seen if he can light a fire come playoff time again or not. This offseason will be very telling in terms of just how much faith the locker room has in him.

I had it pretty bad last year for about a few months. It's awful. You struggle to stand up at times, let alone walk around, and you always feel like you're going to tip over. And you just feel constantly tired, even when you've slept fine.

I didn't know he had it. If so, then that sucks.

We can only speculate here but it could explain some stuff.. The lack of practices.. that he feels almost not involved really for big stretches of the Season.. at least not as he was last year.

I really hope this works out for his healths and well beeings sake first and foremost but also for us.. If he is not fit to do his job....

Ty played Lebron almost 24 minutesx straight to close the game. He gave him a 30 second breather right before Kevin hurt his shoulder.
Is this seriously okay?

He also played Korver 14 minutes straight to close the game aswell.
