Everything about Lue is simple to understand now
- Not really a regular-season coach (in terms of maxing-out team then)
- Relies on:
.......................Cavs offense
.......................Defensive adjustments for the postseason
.......................Higher defensive effort/focus in the postseason (so go easy on guys in regular season)
This is what Lue is, and I like it.
His defensive schemes might not be genius, but they work and slow down the opponent enough so that our strong offense can get the job done.
The only problem I have with this, and maybe it's not entirely Lue's fault. Definitely partly IMO.
Given we are a veteran team, and we can't whip the horse in the regular season. I get that. It makes more sense.
He still needs to do a better job in putting a minutes restriction in the regular season on LeBron.
Now, I get it, there are at times we've had to play LB so much because of how much we rely on him.
Other times, I think he's just done what a lot of young coaches do, play his best player much more than needed.
I think Griffin hasn't done us much favors either in this aspect. Whether his fault, or not.
Going forward, we got to be able to be somewhat productive with LeBron on the bench.
This is where our lack of two-way players hurts us, given LB is so great on both ends for us.
Another reason I really wanted a Rudy Gay before he got injured.
