Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well, that makes LeBron vulnerable to foul trouble. Unless you expect him to play cupcake defense and not contest anything. I don't like it, LeBron hates banging down there as is.
Then give Tavares a shot.

Something needs to change. This has been a problem for months.

Lue with another good game-plan out of the gate. Took away Toronto strengths. Our offense was humming all night.

Is that take allowed in here yet? Or is he still the worst coach of all-time in here?

Lue did a good job tonight.

He must've also decided to send Longo on a vacation during these past 8 days while we devised our defensive strategy....

Yeah I understand that much. Unless we can mix in TT with the 2nd unit more that'll be a boost, honestly TT should lead the team in minutes anyways. He works one end most for the time. But say if TT subs out earlier in 1st to charge up for the 2nd, Love slides at center, RJ checks in at the 4?

I'd like Tavares but I doubt Lue goes that route at this point in time.

It's time to make a change to this 2nd unit.

I think Frye is the problem...he can't play Center at all...his defense is so bad...not an accident the bleeding stopped when TT subbed in for him...

Going forward we need to consider playing RJ and running LeBron at the 5 in the 2nd unit lineup.

That same second unit was our best line-up the entire Pacers series. Tonight, it had some trouble. Might be a match-up thing. To Lue's credit, he adjusted early in the fourth with TT subbing for Frye.

Time to stop underselling his postseason coaching. He has decent foresight. Every series we've played we know what type of shot we are willing to concede to what player on the other team, who and when to trap, whose screen to go under. Our average defense is able to regulate our opponent's offense thanks to this. His timeout plays are money. He doesn't stick with a predetermined setup when it's clear it isn't working. He doesn't use the wait and see aprroach other coaches use.

Whereas he's constantly put down in favour of 'superior' coaches like Eric Spoelstra who for instance in the 2014 finals didnt have the basic tactical nous to tweak his system not to trap a guy like Boris diaw when it became obvious he was only looking to make the extra pass out of the double team.

This is a great point. The most underrated thing about Lue is his willingness to change something mid-series that's not working, even if it worked before. In this very game the Frye plus bench lineup that was so dominant last round was not effective in the first half...Lue gave it a few minutes in the fourth before switching things up and subbing in Thompson. This is consistent with last season when guys like Frye and Delly who had contributed in the early rounds were rightfully out of the rotation in the Finals...Mozgov was benched early in the playoffs when it became clear he forgot how to play basketball...and Tristan and Jefferson were used more against the Warriors than in the previous rounds. So many coaches are afraid to shift from what worked before and refuse to experiment until it's too late.

I think he has done great. Opponent awareness is high level

Great job by Lue to have this team ready to come out of the starting gate strong for this series.

it was incredible how easy it was for them to target Frye on defense. Frye was playable last year against Toronto but didn't look playable last night. But without Frye we basically have no backup center. Still feeling the fallout from how badly we screwed up our frontcourt rotation over the summer, hiring the decaying corpse of Birdman and thinking Frye was a frontcourt player.

with that said, whenever Frye wasn't in our defense looked so much better than the regular season. Kudos to Lue and the team.

Regarding the 2nd unit, i'd experiment with RJ or Derrick Williams taking Frye's place. Both their talents are maximized with Lebron on the court. I don't think Tavares is the answer. TOR went small last night, which was killing Frye on the PnR action. It's not like he was out muscled by a bigger PF/C.

Tavares is the answer for everything.. we have yet to figure it out. Unleash him and see the beast perform..
Was he even on the bench last night?

Not to say Frye can't even post up guards half his size. Last night I think he had Lowry on him and couldn't move him an inch. If he's not hitting 3's he's useless.
