W&G: DEADLINE DAY IS HERE !

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What exactly did we miss out on? Grabbing Brad and Salmons for Wally?

I think I'll live ...

That's the same thing I keep asking, but everyone that's mad won't answer.

I'd at least like to see someone actually come out and say Brad Miller was at the top of their list of trades, so I could actually feel sorry for someone. But everything I see is everyone is mad because we didn't a bunch of guys that never ended up getting traded at all.

They're mad because of all the Amare hype but they don't realized that standing pat WAS AN OPTION for Ferry and Gilbert.

Nobody really knows what deals were actually offered to us in the last week or two, and won't until maybe windhorst or others give us some info.

People are disappointed because we now have very few opportunities to improve our team over the next 2 years. We know that while this team is great, it is still an underdog against the Celtics or Lakers, and we're letting our best trading piece disappear, and getting nothing in return.

I'm not sure what we could have got, but given the number of teams trying to get rid of salary, we should easily have gotten a piece more talented than Wally, or at least, a bad contract and a high draft pick. Cap space means nothing to us, because we're not going to have any over the next couple years, and contrary to what people say....we're simply not contenders to sign another max deal on top of lebron in 2010.

so basically...as good as our teams been this season, it looks like the potential of our team to improve over the next year, took a huge step backwards today.

Ehm, Ben and Saša have expiring contracts - as soon as this off season!:chuckles: We will resign Andy and someone to MLE and then we can trade Ben and/or Sasha. JJ will improve, Boobie too, we will have another Finals appearance at least, whats not to like in our future?

wow, j.a adande just said on ESPN that any team who would've taken shaq in trade would've paid, because of the luxury tax, essentially $40 million for the diesel. dang...that is a lot for one dude who's that old...man...

This is why I'm amazed PHX didn't cave.

Sarver is eating some serious money. If they don't make the playoffs, he is gonna go in firesale mode this summer.

Standing pat was always an option for Cleveland. JJ is going to get alot of playing time before the playoffs hit, and hopefully he continues to mature.

Cleveland is already 41-11 and are led by the best player in the league. This team wins with great defense and they will continue to play that way. Tomorrow will be another W.

ok, since you're clearly using the cavs games against the lakers this season as a measuring stick, let's use that same measuring stick then for the celtics. so, the last time we played them we smoked them. badly. yet, according to you, we're "underdogs" to them. why, exactly?

which is exactly why the cavs wanted to send ben out and not wally. the difference would have been something like a total of 10-12 million for gilbert trading ben. With wally it would have been a difference of 20+

which still could, quite conceivably, help us again. we could be active buyers in that firesale...

oh, i dig completely why. it's just stunning to think shaq costs you $40 million. insane...

We are not an underdog against the Celtics. We had a vastly weaker team last year and should have beat them. This year we win in 6 games. We smoked them without Z last game.

As for the Lakers, they won 2 games (didn't we beat the Spurs both times 2 years ago?), so what. We were not healthy for either game. And how many times will Lebron and Mo go 12 for 39 in a game?? When we actually had a 2 guard playing in that game we were doing quite well. In the finals, West will be guarding Kobe and this will allow Lebron to handle Odom if need be. And Odom played the game of his life, I am betting it does not happen in the finals.

We are 24-4 with our starting 5 intact...17-7 with 1 to 3 rotation players missing, that is damn good. I am betting on the Cavs to win it all...

is it possible for a mod to put this on a massive banner on the front page of RCF? it seems like many people on here are ignorant of that fact. thanks!

That's what it would have cost us if we had given them Wally instead of Wallace because we'd have been on the hook for Shaq's $20 million next season plus about $20 million in luxury taxes. Ferry/Gilbert weren't going to do that, apparently. We were reportedly willing to give them Wallace instead of Wally, which would have increased our salary commitment for next season by only $6 million - so double that it's $12 million which is a far cry from $40 million. Makes sense from a financial standpoint to refuse to swap Wallace for Wally in that deal.

What if, what if, what if, what if, what if, what if, what if, what if, what if, what if, what if, what if, what if, what if...

If only Ferry would have...If only Ferry would have...If only Ferry would have...If only Ferry would have...

That should cover the next 50 or so posts that we'll see.
