W&G: DEADLINE DAY IS HERE !

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ehm, Ben and Saša have expiring contracts - as soon as this off season!:chuckles: We will resign Andy and someone to MLE and then we can trade Ben and/or Sasha. JJ will improve, Boobie too, we will have another Finals appearance at least, whats not to like in our future?

What makes you think anyone will want Ben's contract next year, after they passed on Wally's this season?

I get why they didn't pull the trigger on Shaq, but why not also look at smaller deals that would still upgrade our front court. I don't remember hearing of any players we looked at that weren't major names. It seemed like it was trade Wally for a star or bust. Now we have nothing to show.

Am I off here?

Yep.

We're 41-11 with the lineup we have now. I don't think we needed to show anything today.

Why does no one point out that with both Z and DWest the cavs are 24 and 4. That is ridiculous and shows the potential this team still has.

Thats all we need to realize if we feel disappointed. I suppose the ones who wanted trades like to play video games where we can make trades happen easily.

In this financial climate, trading just became really hard for a few teams that would normally be able to trade. I'm thinking that keeping Wally is ultimately a safegate that the organization will use to make sure the financial storm does not worsen and get to the franchise. If the financial mess gets better over the next or so, then we still have Big Ben's expiring to improve the team for the future OR just let him expire and sign a big time free agent in 2010.

Its unfortunate but basketball is a business and financials have come into play bigtime this year.

Re: W&G: DEADLINE DAY IS HERE !

hughes going to NY and Lebron's 2010 FA have nothing to do with each other

Ummm... I guess the bolded type and the references to Ricky Davis and Starbury weren't enough to underscore the sarcasm in my post. For you, next time, I'll use one of dem purty lill' pit-tures like dis.... ;)

;)

So tell me...in what ways can we improve between now and the end of the 2009-2010 season?

MLE
1st round pick
Ben's expiring contract

Don't forget JJ developing also... if he develops quick enough and Ferry is willing to deal him we could end up with Bosh.

Yum. I hope that is realistic and not a pipe dream.

If Bosh demands out, what else could Toronto have more of a want for? I suppose the Heat could send them JO back and Beasley, but Ben (large expiring) + JJ (cheap young talent) + filler(s) in the form of players or draft picks seems pretty possible to me if it appears JJ is going to be a 20/10 guy. Toronto would fill a need at PF if they are going to lose Bosh, plus they get cash for the 2010 market.

If JJ pans out, Toronto would probably look pretty good:

Calderon
Sign SG in 2010
Bargiani??
JJ
??

Couple of holes to fill, but not a terrible lineup for being in a rebuilding mode. That has to look attractive to them if they know Bosh is gone and JJ is looking good.

Re: W&G: DEADLINE DAY IS HERE !

People are just dumb. Many people just want to trade but it's not simple like that. Sometimes it's best not to do anything than make a dumb move. So many naive people around the world today.

I'll bring it up again. There's definitely many people who are disappointed on what happened. We didn't get anything. Not a single little upgrade. But folks, you guys have to understand the reality of sports. Just because you have a big expiring contract, it doesn't mean that person is going to be dealt. Some teams are greedy and they're going to want certain players. Many have asked about Delonte West but Cleveland just denied them and said thanks but no thanks. Yea, we really need another big man to keep up with the Lakers. I think we can beat anyone in the East but the Lakers is one question. Some people were criticizing some people on the board who brought the rumors...thinking a deal may happen. I mean, that's what rumors are about. There's talk about certain players but majority of the time, it doesn't happen. Those are called discussions. To some extent, the chemistry of this team may end up going far than they should. And all the negativity after the deadline about not getting a deal, I still think we'll be in the NBA finals. Personally, I'm glad we still have JJ Hickson. I believe W&G and myself and some others have liked him before the draft came out.

We may not be the best team out there, but I think we have the most heart that may make that little difference in the playoffs this year. Cheers.

What makes you think anyone will want Ben's contract next year, after they passed on Wally's this season?

Because someone will have to. A lot of owners will decide to reduce their teams payroll and we will help them :chuckles:! Ferry didn't screw up, other GM's did, face it, some teams are not going anywhere in foreseeable future, yet they didn't do shit to save themselves, we are still top 3 team after deadline.
