Re: Hornets @ Cavaliers Game #1

How about that Damon Jones' HIGH LEG KICK? I can't stop laughing.

My family and I watch the game together in our sorround sound system. Damon Jones is quickly becoming a house favorite.

He is awsome.

Except we will get an actual W for it, 1-0 :) looks like Milwaukee will be 1-1 so that's good :) Last I saw Indy and Lando were 4 points apart...Sarunas had 5 points in 9 minutes at the half with 1 three ball...oh well whatever dude. Probably won't see LeBron Z or Larry again this game oh well....Can we get a LUUUUKE? It will probably be Wilks Sasha Jackson Henderson Hamilton most of the 4th.

:chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:

That's 2-0 CDT. After our opener against Shaq and Wade....3-0!!!

Random thoughts: The scary thing (in a good way) is that at times the offense looked a little rushed, guys out of place. (Assists trailed off in 3rd quarter.) But how good is it going to look by February? Lordy! Hughes and Jones both seemed to be pushing at first, but Hughes found other ways to contribute and got it going and Jones started playing his role. And I don't care if Eric Snow never scores a point. I'd like to see his assists go up, though.

On D, Gooden and Hughes were beasts, man, just all over the place. I'm a basketball layman but even I could see the help defense ebbing and flowing all over the court. Breakdowns at times, sure, and it was kind of rough there in the 2nd quarter. But I see us eventually having a team defense on par with the Pistons and an offense similar to the Suns last year.

If the 3pt shooting was what James worked on last year, sweet. (I was hoping it was post moves. Oh well.) But I am concerned about him relying on it too much. It should be opening up space for him and for the team. So I tried to break it down:
*6 of 7 from the three point line.
*0 for 3 from midrange
*3 of 5 in the paint. At least one "and the foul"
* 7-8 from the line
A couple of nice dishes near or in the paint that ended up as points. Correct me on any of this if I'm wrong.

It doesn't seem too off balance to me. That string of 3's looked automatic, and who are we to complain if he's feeling it? If his free throw % improves this year and he attacks the basket a little bit more, he'll have a complete inside/out game that no one can defend.

Btw, Z's over the shoulder layup. I lost it. And no one's mentioned the 'visit' with crabby ass, frog-like David Stern. Get a Cavalier girl to kiss him and see if he turns into Tayshaun Prince.

You know, I was at the game. And I was impressed. I was mad at the refs for turning a blowout into a really slow game, but was still noticing things.

The defensive system. People making rotations. Stopping baskets. Yes, there were lapses. But I could count around 5 out of the 25+ rotations we made to prevent baskets.

Donyell Marshall was great. No fear in shooting those three's. No fear under the paint. Seriously the most underrated player of all time.

Damon Jones as well. No fear from the arc. Even though his percentage was down, he still fired away and made some quality shots.

Sasha surprised me with his first 3. Assertive. But then he disappeared until the 4th quarter when he was battling with Luke.

Luke was all over the place by the way. Passing, shooting. But making the right decision when the ball got in his hands. Not doing the Dajuan Wagner type deal in garbage time, but showing what he'll do for you in meaningful minutes: the right thing.

Z owned it up early. Putbacks. Slams. Everything.

Gooden got me riled up. Board after board, slamdown after slamdown. I'm down with it. Do it like this every night.

The King did great. Awesome. Superb

All in all, good blowout. I was satisfied when I got home.

I am really curious to see how this team plays against SA. I mean, this IS the Hornets.

These are the same hornets that held scaramento to 67 points last night...

Noticed that as well Run Run... He fits in very well with this system...He will get as many and probably even more looks then he did in Miami...

Marshall is more active then I thought..And is a much better defender that he is given credit for...

You're right of course. My bad. Nice win. Seems as if the 3 point shot is Lebron's new addition. 6-7 from deep makes him Verrrrrrrrry dangerous.

thoughts and observations from the Q:
-The red seats are slowly coming along. One side of the lower bowl was almost done. They look great.
-Amanda is the hottest cheerleader still (redhead).
-LeBron is amazing.
-Ronnie Duncan was actually tolerable this game.
-Damon Jones is going to have a huge problem with fast point guards on defense.
-Defensive rotations were outstanding.
-Donyell Marshall shooting from the corner is a pretty sight.
-Hughes showed he can still do a lot when his jumpshot is off, and can still make an impact. On another note, I'm not sure the refs knew he was on our team; he seemed to be getting mugged quite a bit with no calls.
-The Hornets are going to have a pretty good backcourt if they can stay patient and keep both these guys. (Still don't understand the Magloire move)

Maybe even more dangerous THAN REDD? I think SO!

Thanks TJ... :)

Cleveland56... You were right about Ronnie Duncan.. With the exception of DREW "THE TOTAL PACKAGE" GOODEN :chuckles: ..

That was just whack :thumbdown ...

But "THE KING" went into some kind of Jordanesqe ZONE.... That was scary, the funny thing was, he could have dropped 50 tonight but scaled back.. :chuckles:
